Two Sacs But One Is Much Smaller??

I'm hoping for some feedback from women who have been in my situation. Had a scan at 5w 1d. Yes, a bit early, but was going out of town for 10 days and after all my fertility treatment, they wanted to take a looksee. Anyway, saw two sacs, but one is much smaller than the other. Fetal pole detected in the bigger one, but nothing could be seen in the smaller one (too small). Nurse said not to plan on twins just yet, that she doubted if the smaller one would make it, but that you "just never know." Has anyone been in this situation? What was the outcome? My next scan is Monday, and I'll be 6w 5d...much more likely to have some answers. Still, very curious right now. Thanks in advance for sharing!

I have heard of one catching up, sorry I don't have any first hand experience but best of luck, hope the 2nd one makes it.

I had an u/s at 5w 3d and it showed 4 sacs. Sac D was tiny and already decomposing. Sac C was very little and measuring 6 days behind Sac A. The reproductive endo told me, in his experience, if a sac measures 5 days or more behind the others it won't survive. You can see by my user name, Baby C is alive and well! Good luck!

A friend on my due date buddy group just found out she is having twins at her second scan (the 12 weeks one) at her 8 weeks scan there were 2 sacs but one was empty. HTH

Anne, That wasn't very nice, the *medical experts* havn't really told her a thing, basically it might it might not, not really much to go on huh!

Medical experts told me a whole lot about Baby C throughout my pregnancy. He defied every odd imaginable. They were wrong, not idiots, just wrong. Thankfully they were wrong or I would be visiting him at his grave.
