I believe Asian twins are almost always identical, as fraternal twinning is very rare in your genetics. Identical twins are random in nature (nothing you can do to get them). So the only thing left that I can think of to increase your odds (of fraternal twins) is fertility drugs, which may be hard to come by if you are not having fertility issues to begin with.

Did you have any luck? What did you try to increase your chances?

joanne - May 20th, 2005 2:03 PM

I want twins too! if anyone can tell us how, please do!

if you want twins, it is said that women either have it genetically, or they eat a lot of yams, or have a high intake of folic acid

Nemo - May 31st, 2005 4:35 AM

You can take a fertility drug, like Clomid, but would be hard pressed to find it off prescription...You can consume lots of WILD yams, and take at least 800mg of folic acid a day in the months leading up to your conception attempt.
Track and chart your cycles...
Pray alot.

Hi, I'm asian too...and would like twins...my father is a twin himself...what are the chances??? I just heard it's rare for Asians to have twins...so let me pray!!!

Asians are the least likey to conceive twins. However, there are a few things you can do to increase your chances:
Yams are supposed to increase your chance, although I was told they are "Wild Yams" the "Wild Yams" also come as a Dried Herb. Also try the herb "Vitex Agnus Castus" also called "Chasteberry or Chaste tree berry." Take between 800mg and 1000mg daily.

I WANT TO BE A MOM - October 4th, 2005 6:23 PM

WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF ME HAVING TWIN IF ON FATHERS SIDE THERE ARE TWINS IDI=ON'T KNOW ABOUT MOMS BUT ON MY HUSBANDS FATHER AND MOTHERS SIDE THERE ARE TWINS?OH, I AND I AM A LATINA.

It doesn't mean squat if the fathers side has twins every single birth, twinning (Frat twins) is somewhat of a 'deformity' where the body allows two eggs to be released (Either at the same time or up to a few days apart), normally, after an egg is realeased, a hormone is produced to cease production/release of further eggs. This can only be inherited on the maternal side (Eg, your mum, your mums mum etc)

piedy - December 30th, 2005 7:03 AM

If there are twins on your husbands side and they are identical, then he may have inherited a certain protein that can make your egg split once implanted. All this time I thought the husband ment squat to until I really researched the matter :)

onetwothree - December 30th, 2005 12:30 PM

Not only does the male's egg have to contain this but the female's has has to be receptive to it which is not common. There is about a .05% chance for conceiving identical twins and a 3% chance for conceiving fraternal twins.
