Well, I don't know what you can do about it. But, the same thing happened to me with my last pregnancy and this one. Despite my terrible nausea/vomitting. I gain weight. I didn't with my first, but with my second, it was terrible! This time around, the same thing, but I'm sure it's just a lot of water weight/bloating. I'm 20 weeks now, and haven't gained a ton since I started seeing my doctor (at 10 weeks, have gained 6 pounds) but prior to that put on like 15 in what I can only assume is water weight, and all the additional blood that collects, that kind of thing. There's not much I can do about it, so I try not to be down about it. I'm starting to feel better with the help of medicine from my doctor, so I'm beginning to go to the gym again, and trying to be as healthy as possible. What happens after you do that, you really shouldn't worry about. It's hard not to, but really, what can you do? Your body will do what it needs to do, and you shouldn't try to cut back any more to avoid it. Sorry I don't have real advice to help you, but that's all I can say that I've experienced. It's no fun, but in the end, is well worth it! Good Luck. |

If you know it's not twins then why are you posting on this board and not just the first trimester board?? You still are obsessed aren't you? |

That is excessive weight gain for only being 8 weeks. Like you said, it can't be the baby since it only 3 cm long. I would think it could be water but that is a lot of water. I think diabetes is something they worry about later in the pregnancy but I do know that excessive weight gain can be a sign of pre-eclampsia. Definitely talk to your midwife about this. |

thanks julie, this is quite reassuring to know that someone else is going through the same thing....i have a scan in four weeks time to make sure that the baby is not too big either..as both my boys were over 9lb when they were born... |

thanks for the info..yes that was what i have been told that clomid makes you gain 'while' taking it...whether or not after the course and after you get pregnant is not clear...anyway...i don't eat much at all so hopefully this will soon stop....if not i may reqire a special diet for this pregnancy so will request an appointment with a nutritionist. |

I found the opposite to be true as far as feeling baby goes... when my tummy was well toned, it seems like I could feel the flutters easier.. like they had something firm to flutter against.. I felt my DD at 16 weeks. This time, it was 17w3d before I felt baby, and it seems like it's because my tummy is more mushy then before #1.. like there isn't as firm of a surface to flutter against... and actually, it wasn't flutters, it was BUMPS this time! Could feel from the OUTSIDE! Just goes to show each is different! |

They do say that very thin moms have more of a chance at feeling earlier movement. I didn't feel my first baby until 20 weeks (I was normal weight). I probably did but I was busy and wouldn't know how to recognize it. By the time I was with my third pregnancy, I could tell right away what it was very early. |
