I am taking clomid and my doctor told me I had a 5-8% greater chance of twins over the average populations percentage of 12-15% or total you have around 20% chance of having twins. The numbers vary marginally depending on the study you reference. Greater number of multiples has even less percentages. She told me of all the pill form fertility drugs, Clomid has the least chance of multiple gestations. I'll pray for a healthy pregnancy, God Bless!

Beth - wow!! how r u? How many mths were you on the clomid? what days? Rori - how r u? Thanks for your input Jamie. Carrie - congrats girl

I've read that if you take Clomid there is a 65% chance of twins and I think 33% of triplets.

Brandi - where did you read that...those are wayyy higher than anything I've read...I only wish thats correct for all of us! How r u in your cycle?

I became pregnant for the first time on 150mg of Clomid 2 months ago but lost the baby. I have a left over dose of Clomid and am thinking about taking it in addition to my next round giving me 200mg for 6 days (days 2-7), I am also taking unprescribed Metformin for possible PCOS (my Dr is only an OBGYN and will not look into my sugar issues, but my insurance will not cover seeing a RE). I am nervous, but would LOVE twins. I am hoping that the additional Clomid will help the pregnancy stick AND maybe give us twins? I would love to hear what you all think about this!?!

Jenyluv - July 20th, 2005 1:49 PM

i am getting ready to start Clomid 50 mg. i have read so much differing info on twins ect. not sure what to believe. i would love to have twins, but i have miscarried 3 times(19wks,twins 8wks,12wks) and know that there are higher risks when carrying multiples. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I ovulate on my own, but got the Clomid no prescription. for a boost. wish me luck.

Jenny - I am with you on the clomid boost! good luck. Sorry for your losses you truly desserve the twins you crave!

I'm thinking of starting Clomid to have twins myself also because my cycles vary in length each month and it is hard to know when I'm ovulating. Also I have what may be a stupid question-Does having a period always mean you are ovulating? Or can you have a period without ovulating?

Lauren - July 29th, 2005 5:05 PM

Carly- I think in order to have a period you have to O. Hope clomid is good for you!

Kelly - August 4th, 2005 9:01 AM

Carly, I have always had regular periods. When I started my fertility treatment, my Doc said I was one of those womens who didn't ovulate every month, maybe every other month (according to the testing that was done). I am now on Clomid 50 mg. So, from my experience you don't ovulate everytime you have a period.

jenny - August 6th, 2005 7:36 PM

Hi...
My dr. is prescribing clomid...in sept. He wants to make our timing is down. I get my "period" every 28 days, but unless you ovulate it's not really your period, it annovualtory bleeding , which you can get every month, like a period. Try looking up, LUFS....It's one thing you can have when you don't ovulate but still get your "period"....Hope that helps. Here's to clomid!!!

Lisa - August 7th, 2005 2:29 PM

I took clomid to conceive my first child, and only got one baby. It did work, however, after the very first month's treatment. I was told that there is a less than 2% chance of twins on clomid,by my doctor, but I am assuming he was talking about chances in women who don't ovulate and take Clomid. I don't know what the chances or statistics are in women who are fertile, who ovulate and take clomid anyway just to increase their odds of twinning. At any rate, it only gave me one baby. I did end up having twins right after my oldest had her 3rd birthday, but ironically, not using clomid. Life is strange.

Lisa - August 7th, 2005 2:32 PM

I had semi-regular periods all my life but never ovulated, I would later find out. You can build uterine lining and shed that lining, without ovulating. I am one such person.

jenny - August 7th, 2005 4:09 PM

Well, I hope my dr.'s right and I hope the clomid works!!! :)

Lauren - August 12th, 2005 9:46 AM

Lisa - congrats on the twins..life is something eh? I am waiting to O & would love to have two little ones like u. Jenny good luck

mommie n 2girls - August 15th, 2005 9:49 PM

we are trying to conceive #3. We have not used any form of birth control for almost 20 months and have been actively trying for 10 months. My doctor is putting me on clomid 100mg day 2-7 next month (september). They also found something wrong with my insulin levels...i guess i produce more insulin than i need to...so they are putting me on a med for that also. i guess i am wondering if my chances are increased for twins. I know I was fertile 3 years ago b/c I had 2 girls and they are 12 months apart. Hopefully, clomid will do the job!
