I was wondering if anyone here has had an u/s early, like 7 weeks, and seen only 1 baby...only to find out later there is another baby they must not have seen? This is not my case, but I was wondering what the odds are that happens or not?

HI Kathy I read it happens about 5% of the time. In order for it to happen both sacs must be exactly the same size and shape and directly in front of each other. It "does" happen though albeit rarely.

Yes, me!! I had an u/s @ 13 weeks and they told me it was one baby, when I went for my 2nd u/s @22 weeks, there were 2 big boys????Explain that

Well, my slight suspicions were correct! I had my 3rd u/s at 12 weeks and there was another baby hiding in there! pretty much right behind the other one. The dr was as shocked as I was! I had an u/s at 6 weeks and one at 7.5 weeks that only showed one sac and only one baby! I was wondering why I was getting so big, gaining so much weight already, already getting physically uncomfortable in the middle, and I was feeling fluttering since like week 10 or 11. This will be baby 5 and 6 for me. Even though the doc said I would show earlier for consecutive pgs...this is alot more than I expect to show so early! LOL So, I guess I answered my own question,eh?!?! Hahahaha I am still in shock :-)

I knew a lady that was measuring huge. After several u/s saying one baby, she was sent for a special u/s that takes slice style pictures. Guess what....she was carrying triplets. They were all lying in a row. Normal u/s could only see the one closest to her skin.
