There are tons of test that come with pregnancy.... I've had all the standard test before as well as the yucky test to vfy you do not have dietbetes.... Is okay you will be fine.... They are doing what they can do now for you...

I think that some of these tests indicate things they CAN do something about. I have had them... and have my glucose test next week. Don't worry so much... try to enjoy the perks of pregnancy. Worry will only stress you out.

They do the test because it someone has a baby that has a problem...they may do harm to it. If there is something wrong with the baby they ask you if you want to terminate the pregnancy. I know that sounds awful. But the doctors want to give you that option early enough that it is legal to terminate. Not saying that anyone would but they want to let you know.

you should never terminate the pregnancy, those doctors dont know theytried to get my sister to get an abortion and my nephew is 15 years old. abortion is murder.

It is also now illegal to terminate after 18 weeks unless your health is in jepordy (according to a Supreme Court ruling just passed recently) So, now I really don't understand some of those tests either. I opted not to have the quad screen test (a blood test to see if the baby has some of the major things wrong) I figured they could see anything real bad on the 20 week ultrasound and that would have to be good enough for the doctor. But, some tests are VERY important (unfortunately- man I hate some of the tests and I am always joking about how much blood they take when you are pregnant- its like you have a sign on your belly saying "Take my blood") So, try not to worry and if the test is optional, do some research and make your decision according to what you want.

she asked about tests, not your position on abortion or what your sister went through mrpanicatm.
Of course, if you know you would not terminate the pregnancy it is perfectly okay to refuse some of the testing. The Maternal Serum Screening is done around that time and has a high false positive rate, and can cause undue angst if you wouldn't terminate anyway.

Im just now 20 years old, and 39 weeks pregnant. i was 19 when i went in and through my 1-2nd trimesters. They have to do the stupid standard tests haha, im terrified of needles and it seems i got everything they could test for because i was always on the "verge" of something. all the diabetes tests i did 4 times and they draw ALOT of blood for those, almost passed out, threw up on a nurse- just check your dignity at the door and realize these people do this ALL the time and its just part of pregnancy. i always tease youve seen those "houchin blood bank 20 gallon club" when am i going to get my "pregnancy 5 gallon club" plate frame. I'll tell you what got me through it- its all for your baby. its all to make sure she is good and healthy. and she'll be the biggest joy of your life once she is here! and you'll totally forget about all the tests soon.
