I'm 14 weeks tomorrow with my first baby, For the last few days I've noticed dry skin on my nipples. As it turns out it appears to be colostrum, I realised it was coming out while in the bath. Its not much but its there. Is this about the right time for this to happen?

ps How should I care for my nipples now this is happening and when should I expect them to leak to the point where I need breast pads? Sorry, I'm not all clued up on this aspect! :-)

it's normal, even more normal if you're fairly young. it will probably stop on it's own as pregnancy continues. there is no need to care for your nipples other than washing like you normally do, the colostrum is actually a good conditioner. warm baths and showers naturally relax the breast tissue, it's normal to have a little leaking, if you start to leak out of the shower you can use breast pads, but most likely it wont come to that untill after the baby is born.
