You can get pregnant immediately after stopping birth control! It all depends on your body and when it regulates itself. There is really no guarantee, and its hard to plan the exact moment of conception.

I was taking birth control for 9 years when we decided to conceive. I was off the pill for 1 month and ended up pregnant the next month. They prefer you to be off the pill for 2-3 months b4 actively trying to conceive though. I didn't want to wait and the dr said both baby and I are okay. she said the reason they want you to wait aout 2-3 months first is they want your cycle to regulate itself first. I never had a regular cycle so figured i better get the ball rolling early Good luck

To Lina: Birth control does not cause infertility, but it will take your body time to adjust and get used to new hormone levels. It may even take you a few months before you begin to ovulate again. It takes a lot of people longer than 2 months who have never taken the pill before.

I have been off the pill for two months, and my period is all out of whack. I am having one every 2 weeks. Has this happened to anyone else? I know everyone is different, but does anyone know how long it takes for your body to adjust itself and start ovulating again?

I got off the pill about 8 months ago (was on it for 5 years) and I am still not pregnant. I wonder why its taken so long?

Debbie, If you have not gotten pregnant within the next 3 months, you might should see a doctor. Also, I have read that there is only a 20% chance of getting pregnant each month, so it could take you the next few months to conceive! Good Luck!

If you continue taking birth control pills after getting pregnant will this affect the baby

If you continue taking birth control after conception, it could cause birth defects or it could cause you to miscarry. If there is any chance that you might be pregnant, you need to stop the pill!

No, you do not need to terminate the pregnancy. You need to talk to your OBGYN doctor about how long you continued the pill after finding out you were pregnant.
