A baby is a beautiful life and I think God just meant for it to be here if you got pregnant while on the pill. If you don't keep the baby, you might have regrets later. I am pregnant now, and I can NOT imagine trying to decide if I want it or not! It is a part of my body and a part of me! What a precious gift! Good Luck!

I took them for 12 years. It took me about 6 months and we were not trying but not using anything to prevent.

What are the risks of getting pregnant at age 47?

To Patti - September 17th, 2005 8:37 AM

There are serious risks of getting pregnant at 47, for one, you can have problems conceiving, low birth weight, down syndrome, ect... Do some research on the internet. This should not stop you from trying, you never know you could be the one who has a risk free, complications free pregnancy, best of luck!

Question - September 18th, 2005 1:43 PM

I have been on the pill for 5 years. I have stopped it before (forgot to get a refill) had a period and then restarted it. After this last pack (during sugarpill week) I didn't get any period like I usually do. I assumed I was preg, but got neg tests and neg. blood tests...So I am 4.5 weeks late and not pregnant, but I don't want to be on the pill anymore, my doc want's me to take provera to start my period...Has anyone on the pill been this late with no period, not preg. and then their period did come with/without provera??? Anyone, this has never happened to me before! Advice

i was first on the birth control patch from august '05 until march '06 then from march until now ive been on the pill . im going to get off of it as soon as this cycle is over to try to conceive . is it true the younger you are or the less time you have been on the birth control you get pregnant faster?

Honestly, it all depends on timing. If you are on the shot, it takes longer to get pregnant, but I have heard of girls going off the pill, and getting pregnant the month after. One girl that i work with was on the pill when she got preggers with both of her kids. So it all depends on the person. Good luck

I got pregnant while taking birth control pills!

mamawillow - July 26th, 2006 1:42 PM

This is an older thread, but let me say;

I stopped birth control pills, and was pregnant before I had my next period. Eight weeks along now.
No, birth control use during early pregnancy has not been shown to harm a baby. Though they should be discontinued once a confirmed pregnancy is established.
Whoever is insisting it does needs to stop the scare tactics and get informed.

I was on bc for 11 years. I went off of them because I ran out and was getting ready to have surgery for endometriosis. The doctor was not sure I could get pregnant. My dh and I conceived two weeks after the surgery and three weeks after going off of bc. we were not even trying. :)
