My AF was due on Aug 6 and still nothing. I was regular for 5 months then missed. I have all the symptoms and have had mixed tests (urine & digital.)
4 were positive albeit faint and 3 were negative. My last one was a first response and came up almost straight away faint line, then after 10 minutes went away, then later on still I can still see the line (very very faint, but pink not clear or white)
I am almost scared to take a blood test if it comes up negative as we have been trying for three years and when I saw the line I told him and we both blurted it out to some friends. If we aren't we will look like fools. If we are I'm praying this one stays put as had two m/c's before this one.

what is AF? I'm awaiting my blood results and have had three positive test(one which i took yesterday and the positive came up horizontal instead of vertical...what does this mean?) I have all the symptoms and am 10 days late for my period...your help would be muchly appreciated thanks!

AF...is Aunt Flo...um, your period. If the directions were followed properly it seems as though you had a faulty test..Let me know what you find out from the doctors!

thanks...tonight I got discharge with a brown colour to it (it only lasted for bout an hour) ... I'm 2 weeks late for af and am wondering if this is impantation bleeding...I went to the doctors and got a negative urine test but have ALL the symptoms like sore/bigger boobs with white bumps around them, nausea, lower back pain and bloating...etc what do you think???Thanks

Hi there, I have read some responses that claimed it was imposible to be pregnant if you got a negative blood test, well I have 3 children that prove that theory false ;) I didn't test positive till at least 8 weeks with all of them. My dr said I have low hcg which isn't too uncommon. All of my pregnancies were normal. I am currently 2 weeks late and pretty sure I am preggers again, but I have to be patient and wait for 2 more weeks before I can test. However ultrasound will show something after 5 weeks! Blood tests, just like urine tests, work by detecting HCG levels. Blood tests are much more precise and can tell you the exact number of HCG mIU/ml in the blood. Even with the most sensitive blood test, it is still possible to be pregnant with a negative test.
HCG is produced at least in small quantities from the moment of conception, so why can't you get a positive result on a pregnancy test right away? In order to get a positive pregnancy test, blood or urine, HCG has to be present in the woman's blood stream. Once the egg implants it burrows into the woman's uterus connecting the baby directly to the woman's blood stream. Until implantation occurs, your developing baby, the fertilized egg is not directly connected to your blood stream. Only when implantation occurs will their be enough HCG present in your blood stream to confirm pregnancy.
Implantation time varies, averaging between 6 to 12 days past ovulation. If your baby implanted late in your cycle and your test was performed early, you could get a negative test result on a pregnancy test when you actually are pregnant.

The hCG in the urine comes from the hCG in the blood after it was filtered through the kidney. After ovulation, the egg gets fertilized and travels through the fallopian tube toward the uterus. I am 12 days late. I HAVE NEVER been late. My husband and I are not ttc. I have been on the pill for the last 5 years. I missed a pill early during the third week so I doubled up. I have done this many times and it never has caused me to miss a period. Blood test done at 7 days late was negative. I am having my thyroid checked on Monday. For those in the same situation, I highly recommend having this test done if you haven't yet. I am frustrated with the doctors telling it me its stress. Yeah, I am stressed now, but before I wasn't. I have had way more stress in the past and did not miss a period. They also act like it is my head because I want to be pregnant. I'm like HELLO! I was on the pill. Read my chart! I am really glad I found this site. Reading all your stories have been helpful. Not knowing why I do not have my period is so frustrating. I will keep posted. Good luck to all of you ladies.

I now have faith that it is possible, I just got a negative blood test result from the doctor today, i'm so crushed but reading this has just given me a different view on what is happening, I'm 11 days late for my periods, I think I'll just hang on and see which will come first, AF or bundle of joy.

i am SO happy to have found this thread. i am 9 days late and just (not even an hour ago now) received a negative blood test, which the doc recommended i take because there was a very faint positive on the urine test he gave me. he said i'm late most likely because i didn't ovulate this cycle, which happens as we get older. i hate to think about that, as i'm only 31! jyls and teekay, what's going on with you now? are you still negative and/or late?

still waiting for my periods but have bad cramping, I guess I'll only go for another test in a week or so.

what kind of cramping do you have? i've been experiencing cramping this whole time, mostly in my lower back but some pelvic as well. it's confusing because from what i've read, it's a sign of early pregnancy OR af on her way. let's keep each other posted with our progress teekay, because we seem to be around the same schedule.

Tomorrow I will be officially 3 weeks late. Thyroid is normal. Got results today. Took HPT and of course negative. I confided in a friend at work about what is going on and she told me that her friend who was not ttc had the exact same thing happen to her. Negative blood test and 4-5 weeks later pregnant and had a healthy baby. I have no cramps. Boobs started to feel sore around the nipples (sorry if tmi). This weekend I felt I could have eaten everything in the house. Could be signs of PMS or could be signs of pregnancy. I see the doc on Nov 19 for regular check up. By then I will have missed two periods. I will let you know what I find out. Hayleywonder, I know what you mean about the not ovulating. I'm 31 and will be 32 in a month. After reading these responses I am so confused. On one hand, I know my body and how it runs but on the other these test coming back negative is leaving me confused. The first day of my last period was Sept. 26 so it has been 47 of my cycle and still no perioid. The last time I had unprotected sex was Oct. 18. I took two HPT's on Nov. 4th and 6th, Urine at the doctors on the 6th as well as a blood test on the 10th and they have all come back negative. The doctors also did some blood work and so far the test showed that I had elevated prolactin levels. I noticed last week my breast seemed a bit larger than normal but I thought it was just the bra and shirt I was wearing..lol..but then my bestfriend also pointed out that my breast looked bigger. I guess it's from the milk producing in my breast...but if I am not pregnant why is there milk producing?? My doc told me it is common for women to skip a cycle but being that I had unprotected sex during my time of ovulation I think I could very well be pregnant and this is just not a skipped cycle. Seeing that some have had negative blood test and were indeed pregnant is just confusing me more. Has anybody had negative results but elevated prolactin levels?

well harleywonder, i don't know what I got last friday,AF for a day and that's it. I called the doc, to find out what's cooking!

HI ladies. I wanted to share something with you...it is very possible to have negative blood and home tests but still be pregnant. I had my blood test on Friday 11/07 and got the results back the following Monday and they were negative. I didn't believe the negative result, so I did a home test and got a positive. Made an appointment with my gyno for this coming friday (tomorrow) but did not mention the positive result. I took another test on tuesday morning, again positive (but really light)...took another test this morning and it was bright pink. I am going to go tomorrow and see if they can do more blood work. If you are late and think you might be pregnant, and they have done blood work already and it was negative, wait a week and ask if they will do it again. If they are only doing the qualitive test (which just says if there's more than 5 of the hcg level in your body) ask if they will do the quantitive, so that you know exactly what level you do have in your body.
