i was just curious....is there anyone else who has noticed a change in the vaginal area during pregnancy? THe vaginal lips appear fuller like they do when I am aroused or after orgasm. They don't look normal, is this something that other people have experienced? Please help me! thanks

It is normal for that to happen. You are not abnormal in anyway! Your body goes through major changes while your pregnant.

jah - September 24th, 2004 1:31 AM

I don't think that there is something wrong with you at all. Our body during pregnancy go through major changes and I think the question you asked is not inmature and that its valid. A woman hormones go crazy during pregnancy and at time the viginal area tend to get ingorged with flow of blood just like it would during or right before sex. I mean havent you noticed you have more of a drive for sex?

Its the increased amount of blood flow.I have it too, the lips are darker in color and swollen, my vagina is much bigger than it usually is.Also this sometimes causes pains ,but is nothing to worry about. alsmot every pregnant woman experiences this!

Lilly - October 8th, 2004 9:57 PM

I am swollen too, both inside and outside. My husband loves it:) Enjoy your womanhood and do not feel embarrased.

Absolutely I reme mber walking into my bathroom naked one day lookded in the mirror and holly cow I have never seen lips that huge it's actually very embarassing. And this is a Q & A website about pregnancy how is this question invalid! The first 2 people that responded are idiots!

swanofspeedys - September 8th, 2005 11:19 AM

Don't worry Sara, this is a very natural change, you may also notice a blue tinge to your vagina lips (this tinge can also effect the cervix). It's all due to the extra blood flow and hormonal change, enjoy your pregnancy and Bless you and your baby.To Lilly, lovely words.

yeh i have it too! im 6 months gone and ive just noticed it...sooo embarassing and sumtimes rather painful

Bridget - September 30th, 2005 1:13 PM

Yup it's normal and don't be embarrassed, if nature intended it to happen, it's a-ok. There are some less than fun side effects (like bowels going in slow motion) so enjoy the good symptoms. My DH likes it too and bless him, he likes the extra weight too! I'm neither skinny nor heavy but now I'm "fuller" all over (not just the breast area) and he's getting a kick out of it all. Me too, there is an increase in sex drive, all normal. The human body (esp. the pregnant body) is an amazing thing. This will most likely be my only child so I'm getting into all the changes and trying to ignore the less than "fun" side effects.Enjoy!

i havent experienced that very much, but i am SO sore down there right now. i havent had sex for around a month.. pretty much since we found out a few weeks ago, so its not from that....
i hope that isnt abnormal...

Jamie - December 1st, 2005 2:29 PM

I have been experiencing the same thing. Another embarassing change I have is that my one breast is now larger than the other. It's not noticeable with my clothes on. However, my bf and I both noticed it. Anyone ever heard of this happening during pregnancy.

Bridget - December 2nd, 2005 12:22 AM

Yes my left one looks a little bigger than my right, just a bit and only I notice it. We went to a baby care class where they said that if you breast-feed primarily on one breast that it will wind up bigger than the other one (since it's a supply and demand system) so that you should alternate breasts at each feeding. But always empty one breast first so that the baby gets the richer, creamier milk that comes out after he's been at the one breast for a while.
