I've read that in the early stages of pregnancy certain muscles begin to tighten and feel hard to touch. Supposedly these can be felt on your stomach. Where on my stomach? I have a bit of a wobbly tummy from too many sugary treats. I'm not fat I just need to tone up! Anyway, just below my stomach and just above my bikini line I feel a bit harder but I'm not sure if I always was and just didn't notice before! Please let me know your opinions and experiences. Thanks for any help, I'm not stressed either way I just wanna know. Cheers xx(",)xx

i don't know either but in a similar situation and i too wanna know. You'd think someone would've told us by now. How complicated an answer can it be?

Well I know my response might not be much, but I was told that you can feel ya stomach hardening either top of bottom, but in the begining you definitely show at the bottom, one because of your uterus growing. I don't have a flat tummy, but into my 7th week I'm noticing my stomach expanding so from wat I said I'm sure there is someone who has the definite answer.

I am seven and a half weeks pregnant. When your uterus begins to be noticably harder, it will occur a couple of inches below the belly button. However, at 7.5 weeks, this hasn't happened to me yet and I am having a very normal pregnancy. I do feel some of my round ligaments stretching and I feel the pulling on either side, almost like I've done too many side-bends or situps. The reason women seem to "show" early in pregnancy is due to the distension of the bowels not the growth of the uterus.

thanks for your help tina and ginger, and i hope that heps you too nicky! Both your answers were helpful and i didn't know bout the showing not being because of the uterus. u learn something new everyday i guess!! thanks again you've both been very helpful and it sounds similar to what i'm feeling which is good to know. Smiles xx x xx x xx

I'm no doctor, but I do believe that right above your bikini line is where you start to feel "hardness". That is about the same spot your doctor pushes around on and touches when you go in for your doctors appointments.

were your tummy gets harder is your lower abdoment, were you have been feeling it get harder. the reason for it is your baby is below your pubic bone and your uterus is staring to strech bigger and bigger. when you become farther along you will get i little cramping becuase of your uterus expanding and the baby to growing it's self. wait until it kicks your bladder you littery pee yourself hahaha!

Hey Ginger I got a question....I believe I am 5 weeks preg. But I got my period on time. Actually I'm on my 3rd day now. The first day was not normal, the color was different, it started 4am stopped around 8-9am, then started back up later on that night. Weird!! Anyway I think I'm pregnant b/c my stomach has been feeling WAY different.....harder...expecially around the belly button area & like about 6-7 inches all around it!! I know something is going on down there, just not sure what!! What does this sound like to you? Or anyone else for that matter!!! ~Good~Luck~Everybody!!!!

i have been pregnant 4 times...2 live births, anyway if u lie flat on your back and feel right above your pubic bone you should feel a small hard lump...that always worked for me
