I'll be 28 when we start trying. My DH's sis has a Down's Syndrom baby. Does it increase the chance of us having one?

I'm not sure how much genetics come into play, though I have been "told" they do not. Either way, you are certainly young enough that the risks are very small. :)

my sister in law had a downs baby when she was 21. I was prego at the time and worried about my child. When I talked to my dr. she said that 90% of downs children are just luck of the draw, only 10% are a family genetic thing. See if your dr will look into the type of downs that the baby has, my dr was able to find out the my nephew was not from genetics. If you are worried, can you do genetic testing before you conceive or do amino after you conceive.

I should also say that she went on to have 2 more children without downs, and I had 4 without and the other brother had 3 without. So good luck to you.

Thank you all. I was really worried. I didn't know that 28 is still young to have children. This really helped.

My mom works with Handicapped people, and I have been told that genetics have nothing to do with children with down syndrome. The only difference between a person with down syndrome, and us, is they have one more chromazone.
