Hi everyone, I have not had any alcohol since before I became pregnant. I am 38 weeks, and my question is can I feed my baby before I have a couple of glasses of wine, pump after drinking (and throw the milk out) and then safely br___tfeed my baby again? Thanks ladies - much appreciated!

You don't have to pump and dump but instead you should wait until the alcohol sufficently leaves your system (it leaves you milk like it leaves your blood). Here is a guideline on how long it takes: http://www.cfpc.ca/cfp/2002/Jan/vol48-jan-clinical-1.asp

go by your buzz. If you fell buzzed thats how much is going to be in your milk it metabolizes out of your milk like it does in your blood J is right pumping and dumping wont help unless you wait(two hours for every drink)

my lactation consultant said 1-2 drinks was okay -- and maybe even 3 drinks on a special occasion was okay. I thought I could not drink at all and bf before she said that so it was a happy (and tasty) surprise.

I will sometimes have 1 gla__s of wine after dd goes down at night. I know she will sleep 4-5 hours so I think that gives it enough time to get out of my system. If not someone please let me know and I will stop doing it!!!!

One gla__s of wine isn't going to hurt her. I wouldn't worry about it.
