Parents that practice attachment parenting generally don't like to hear their children cry. The goal is to respond to the child before it cries if possible by reading the signals. Attachment parents feel that babies that are attended to promptly are more secure and confident in the long run. To let the baby CIO would go against everything attachment parenting is.

They don't just not like to hear their children cry, they believe that crying is the baby's only way to communicate and if a baby is crying, then the baby needs something - food, warmth, cuddling, a diaper change, etc. by responding quickly to the cries, the parents are teaching the child how to trust them and the baby endsup crying less because he/she knows his/her needs will be met.
