I nursed my daughter for 18 months. I quit nursing when I was 2 months pregnant. and now 5 months preg. and my nipples are rough and while showering they seemed to be flaking ( the dry skin, right on the nipples even like where the milk come out. Also it seems yellowish (directly in the nip) as if the colostrum is coming but its been that way since I quit nursing. Like if I rub them to see what it is it comes off, or out ( not sure)! It's weird :) Help! any advice or stories would be helpful! :) It doesn't hurt or anything just annoying. :):):)

I'm anxious to hear answers as well, as this same exact thing happened to me before my 13 month old was born (BF for awhile with her) and happed again after I stopped and got preg with my son. Asked my dermatologist and even showed her and she said the flaking skin was normal, that she sees it quite often, so I have no idea..

I had what sounds like the exact same thing when I was pregnant. It was yellow (the color of colestrum), and hard. I think it started around the end of the 1st trimester, and didn't go away until I started b___stfeeding. I thought it was weird, but my doctor said it is normal.

I had it during pregnancy, just delivered this December. It is a yellowish crusty flaky material on your nipples. You notice it more when you shower because it tends to come off more easily when wet. More comes off when you rub it. I always thought it was just colostrum that slowly seeped to the surface and crusted on top of the nipple. I rubbed it off during showering. Sometimes it take awhile to build up again.
