If he is crying that often I would say he's in some sort of pain and not necessarily hungry. Do you burp him after a feed? Formula has a lot of extra stuff that a baby's body has to try to get rid of so they are more likely to suffer from colic & upset tummys than a baby that is exclusively b___stfed. He might just have gas but if he seems really distressed & your worried, take him to the doctor just in case.

With a three week old, there should be no more than 3 hours between feeds, especially with formula. That means three hours from the start of one feed to the start of the next. Make sure to check the time when starting a feeding so you can keep track. I formula fed our first (not by choice) and was told by the pediatrician to feed this way. It is possible that he has gas from the forumla, in which case you can give him Mylicon drops and if that was the problem it will help. Also, if you suspect gas, work his legs in a bicycle motion, also, you can ma__sage his tummy in a rainbow arch from right to left. That can help the bubbles through his system if there are any. Good luck, let me know how things are going.

3 weeks old will probably need to be fed every 2-3 hours. If he cries less than 90 min after you fed him, it's unlikely that he is hungry again. Try holding him, burping him, patting his back, etc...
