For the past couple of days dd has been pulling off the br___t after only 2-5min and crying. If i try to latch her back on she screams. Doc seemed to think she has a small amount of colic (it is usually at her afternoon and evening feedings and she has terible gas and crys while she poos) THe only thing that makes her stop crying is a pacifier. I just cant help but think she crying for it! Its almost like she nurses it. Do babies KNOW the difference....If they are really hungry does she know that milk only comes out of my br___t? I introduced the pac b/c she was tring to nurse herself to sleep all the time and it was frustrating. should I take it away or is she sucking to sooth her stomach??

Oh, well, it's too early for teething then. One reason could be that your flow is too fast for her. I found that my dd did a lot better with her morning feeding if I reclined in bed to slow down the flow. It's worth a try.

Thanks, I was thinking that. I had to use sheilds at first, and have tried them again and she is doing better. Just when I got rid of those aweful things!

I had the same problem and I think it was that I had way too much milk for her to handle. SHe's 4 1/2 months now and things have regulated. My dd also had acid reflux really bad and woudl projectile vomit all the time early on. I think part of the problem was the ma__sive flow of milk shooting down her throat. I'd let her have the pacifier - it worked wonders for us! I didn't want to at first but after 6 weeks of screaming we gave in. They are too little to know how to self soothe so a pacifier helps them. good luck
