My son is a very lazy eater and i cant figure out when he is done! He will fall asleep and then wake up in a few minutes hungry usualy right after i pull on my bra and shirt. i feed for a hr at at a time because he pauses so much inbetween, could he just need to suck on a binky after he eats? How can i tell if hes hungry or just wants to comfort suck? AAAAAA its hard to tell i feel like im feeding him too much because of the eat on demand thing i was told i stick him on a brest every time he goes for his hands or wiggles his head in search of food, but i cant decern between hungry and the need to suck!!! HELP!:)

How old is he? If he is under 3 weeks he might just be hungry all the time. At about 4 weeks my daughter would take mine or my husbands pinky (with nail facing tounge). She would suck that for extra sucking and it lasted about 3 weeks before she found other ways to entertain her mouth. We tried a pacifier at 6 weeks but she wouldn't take it. How old is he would help people answer. If he is nursing pretty good trying the binky at 4-6 weeks might help.

My Baby Girl would do the same thing at night and wouldn't get any sleep, but she would get tons, because she would just nurse in her sleep! I got so frustrated and wanted to stop b___steeding, but my mom suggested the pacifier. It worked great. I would just feed her till my b___sts felt empty, then give her the pacifier. Now that she's at 6 weeks I can just tell when she's full, her sucking gets less serious. So if she keeps sucking after that I give her a pacifier. Now we can both get more sleep, and she's much less fussy when she is awake.
