I HAVE HYPOTHYROIDISM AND AM STRUGGLING WITH LOW SUPPLY. MY OB IS GOING TO CALL IN A PRESCRIPTION FOR REGLAN, AND I HOPE IT WORKS. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD WITH MY DAUGHTER EXCEPT SHE NEVER LATCHED PROPERLY LIKE MY SON DOES. HE IS VERY PROFICIENT, SO I KNOW THAT IF I WAS PRODUCING MORE, THAT I COULD EXCLUSIVELY BF. NOW, I HAVE TO SUPPLEMENT WITH FORMULA. I AM GETTING A TWO WEEK SUPPLY OF THE MEDICATION AND THE LACTATION NURSE I STARTED SEEING WEEKLY HAS TOLD ME THAT IN SOME CASES LIKE MINE THAT IT WORKS, BUT ONLY AFTER A TWO WEEK COURSE. IF THIS DOESN'T WORK THEN WE WILL ADD FENUGREEK TO THE MIX AND SEE IF THAT HELPS AT ALL. ANYONE ELSE WITH A SIMILAR ISSUE? I AM A BIT FRUSTRATED. I JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO FEED MY LITTLE PRINCE THE WAY NATURE INTENDED AND RIGHT NOW I CAN'T.

I have hypothyroidism and take a thyroid supplement Armour. I'd suggest to express your milk frequently, drink plenty of water and stay away from cold medicine (made my supply drop drastically). It is scary when you're not producing alot but pump often (every 2 hours) and keep hydrated (atleast a gallon of water a day) to see if your supply changes. You should be able to see a change fairly quickly within a day or two. I started to get upset when I thought I wouldn't have the chance to nurse. But my 2 month and I are doing great with bf, we just had a rocky start.
