My baby girl Rose is 7 days old. She wont latch on. She lost too much weight so I had to finger feed her formula so she wouldn't have nipple confusion. Now when i put her to br___t, she does everything right, except she wont suck . Any advice or tips? Thanks

Have you told your doctor, and/or the hospital where you had her. Normally, a lactation consultant can offer tips. Something else you might try...I make a smacking noise with my lips, if my son starts to nod off while nursing. Sometimes that's all it takes to get him going again. Perhaps if you b__w gently on her face it'll cause her to suckle. Or, try rubbing her cheek, while she's attached. If she just looks at you, no matter what you do, perhaps a nipple shield might help? In any event, contact your doctor and let him/her know what's going on. If you have to express your milk in the meantime, and feed it to you daughter by bottle, so be it until things get going by b___st. Best of luck!!

I had the same problem at 7 days old and went back to hospital where they recommended a nipple shield. It worked like a charm and we never looked back. Some say the reduce you supply but I went back to work at 12 weeks and was able to b___stfeed for 11 months before my son weened himself. I was able to express 1litre per day. Give it a go but don't stress if you can't every one is different and don't let people judge you if you do what works for you.
