Question For Tandem Nursing Moms

How did you do it? I mean, nursing your babe throughout your second pregnancy? I am 9w pregnant and my nipples are killing me when my 14 month old nurses. She is still going strong with no intentions of stopping, so I will go with the flow. But I was just wondering if the soreness ever goes away, or is this something that will stop after the baby is born, ouch!

hi Bellas Mom, i'm not tandem nursing but i know lots of other momma's who have. from what i've gathered the soreness/pain seems to fluctuate but never really goes away. many of them even commented on how their milk was dried up but the older sibling still comfort nursed. it should get better once the new baby establishes a good latch. don't be surprised of your daughter self weans but shows interest again once the new baby arrives.

Hi Bellas Mom. I didn't make it to tandem nurse. My dd self weened about 2 months into my pregnancy and I lost my supply very quickly. You might want to try laleche league or kelly mom.com for more tandem nursing moms. I know it must be possible or the term wouldn't exist...

I was expecting, or am expecting her to self wean, and that's fine, I just didn't want to force wean now, because I know how much she (and I) enjoy that time together. But it's so painful now, I tried LLL and now I'm just hoping it will subside after the first trimester.... My milk has gone down, but dd is still going strong. Thanks for your support ladies :-)
