My son is 3 weeks ols tomorrow. As of now he eats about every 2 hours sometimes 3 if Im lucky:) does that seem ok? I wish i could get him to eat every three hours but Im not sure how to do that. Is it something he will eventually do on his own or is there a way I can help him?

He's so young that his tummy is still very small and doesn't hold much at a time. As he gets older, he will be able to go longer between feedings. I don't know that there's anything you can do, just let him dictate his own schedule.

Thats what I thought too! My peditricans nurse kind of made me feel bad that he eats every two hours. All she said was OH on a weird way. Maybe it was just me but I agree that he will adjust to that on his own. Thanks BeckyM

Just go with his needs. It will feel like you do nothing but nurse these first few weeks . . .and that's what you need to be doing. It builds your supply up, and also, your son is about to hit a growth spurt. He'll nurse a lot then to build your supply up. There's no way to make him spread it out. It's just the way it is. My son nursed every hour for the first 6 weeks, but it does go away and they go to a more civilized schedule :) You are doing just fine. Who cares what the nurse thinks?!
