REFLUX

hi all! Ok, so i suspect that my dd has reflux but would love some opinions....1- she wants to nurse CONSANTLY unless we leave the house 2 - she cries inconsolably about half the time at the br___t so we have to give her a bottle 3 - she spits up often and in pretty big amounts - it's very curdled and often smells acidic 4 - she "chokes" - at random times, it's like she's trying to swallow but can't and it seems like choking. Any ideas??? thanks sooooooo much!!!

LW, my 4 week old son has reflux and has some of the symptoms you described. He was diagnosed with reflux because he was crying during/after feeding at the b___st, crying after bringing up some of his food, choking occasionally even while at rest, and criying incessantly if put down on his back after feeding. It's pretty miserable for all. He is taking Zantac, I'm pumping exclusively so he's only getting bottles now, we keep him upright for at least 30 minutes after eating, and we've elevated the crib slightly at an angle so that his head is higher than his stomach. It's still early yet to tell if any of this is helping (this has been going on for 2 weeks), but at least we have identified the problem and are trying to solve it. My best advice is to keep your daughter upright after she eats, maybe feed her smaller amounts more often, and elevate the crib a bit. We put our son in the car seat for the past two nights because he seemed exceedingly miserable laying down, but the other nights he has been okay with just the crib elevated. Best of luck to you! And call your pediatrician!
