Supplementing With Formula

Hello, I have a question for everyone. I would like to both br___tfeed and use formula. My daughter is three weeks old and has been getting one bottle of formula every day for the past week. My milk supply does not appear to have decreased (I also pump my br___tmilk as well as feed directly from my br___t). My question is can I gradually supplement all of the daytime feedings (11am, 2pm, and 5pm) with formula and continue to keep up my supply for morning and nights?

I think so but I'm not for sure. I am kind of doing the same thing. Breast feeding has been pretty painful, so I have been pumping, giving formula at night, and b___st feeding. My supply hasn't gone down either. I think it should stay up as long as you pump.

The woman's body is an amazing thing! Your body/milk production will most definitely adjust to your baby's needs. It is kind of like a clock....it knows when and how much milk to make. I b___stfed my first baby past age 2 and only fed her nightly the last year. Gradually replace those daytime feeding with formula and it should work for you. Good luck!

I don't understand how it works. I just stopped pumping at work a week ago and I still seem to always have milk available. Tomorrow will be the first time I'll nurse him during the daytime so I wonder if I'll have enough milk. I do give him formula at daycare so I'm not worried about him not having enough b___stmilk. I just know that he prefers nursing if I'm around.
