My thawed milk taste soapy...can i still give it to my daughter, if she accepts it? can she get sick? i have tried doing research on the internet...some say yes...but some say no...do any of you have experience with this? thank you...need answer asap....as i am about to discard all the frozen milk...but unsure if i should

Why would it taste soapy? Did you freeze it in the bags, or in a container that you think may not have been rinsed well? Or is it possible that the botles are what taste soapy? I'd say, do you think there is actually soap in the milk? If there's no way for soap to actually be in the milk, I'd say it's fine. If there's a possibility soap is in the milk, I'd prolly toss it just to be safe.

no its not the bags or the bottles...it only happens when i use thawed milk. i just called a lactation consultant and she said that its normal..sometime milk will taste soapy after being thawed. she said as long as the baby wants it, then its ok.

Talk to a lactation consultant! My midwife sent me to a great LC, commenting that she really knew her stuff and immediately recognized the problem with a woman with bm that had a soapy taste. If your local LCs don't know the cause, call Jennifer Aist in the Providence Hospital WIC office - She has seen and helped treat this. The number is 907-261-4991, in Anchorage, Alaska.
