how long does it take for a c-section to heal?

It all depends on the person. I think my doc said 4-5 weeks for the majority of it, but to listen to your body and what it is telling you because it could take less or could take longer. My first I was more cautious and rested and tried not to lift anything heavier than the baby, but the second time around I was more comfortable and knew what to expect. I delivered my son on Friday at 6am and left the hospital the next day Saturday at 1pm. I felt comfortable doing so and some people have a lower pain tolerance. I felt great after a month as far as day to day activities and was able to start working out again (cardio kickboxing) at about 6.5 weeks post delivery. I listened to my body and when it said enough I stopped. I really think that is the most important thing, that you listen to what your body is telling you. Hope this helped.

My outer scar healed in about 3 weeks but is still ictchy sometimes more than a year later! In the book, Your pregnancy: week by week, it says that your uterus can take up to 9 months to heal and you should try not to get pregnant until then. Hope that helps!
