is it normal to have a sharppain in my stomachit starts out really low then moves up high and then moves into the middle of my stomach but it only lasts a few seconds in each place

Christine - November 11th, 2004 1:11 PM

It is not normal to have sharp pains..though it could be gas...I would call my doc and have them take a look...

The round ligaments on either side of the uterus pull and expand as they strech and you get bigger. I thought I was miscarrying or dying at one point till I went to my doc. She said that it's normal for the pain to move around and startle me especially if I move funny or stretch wrong. BUT, it is best to go see your doc just in case. There are no dumb questions when it comes to your health or the baby's.

This was what i was looking for?? i have had this pain as well. its in the lower part below my belly button and goes up, like a upset stomach or food poisening. sometimes i have it in the morning or late at night. i am 18 days late on my period but i ahve not been able to find out about this pain?

Christine - November 15th, 2004 12:56 PM

Laura I'm not quite sure what side you are talking about...but under your ribs could be your gallbladder...seems to be common for woman to have problems during pregnancy with gallstones...I would get it checked out just in case...it could just be gas...I know a lot of my weird pains are...

I am 38 weeks and since I was about 34 weeks or so I had sharp pains in my stomache. As I got further along I realized that it was the baby moving that was causing these sharp pains, but earlier in my pregnancy I didn't realize it was the baby hurting me I just thought it was normal pregnancy pains. This could be the same situation for you but I could be wrong. Talk to your doctor.

why do i get stomache pauns during pregnancy

sandra - June 12th, 2005 3:24 AM

i think it´ s because of the baby growth.

I have been having pains also. I am only 5 weeks pregnant and 2 days ago I started having these pains. It felt like really bad gas and constipation...but it's neither. I took a gas-x and just burped for hours....it did nothing. Its not just in one spot though. it's all over and wraps around to my hips. At some points it hurts to even walk. I'm fine sitting or staying still, but anytime I move it's just constant discomfort. could it just be muscles maybe?

MRSPERSON - August 26th, 2005 10:37 AM

I HAVE BEEN HAVING THESE CRAMPS AND PAINS IN THE LOWER ABDOMEN AND HIP AREA ALL THE TIME. IF I AM SITTING TOO LONG, OR STANDING TOO LONG, AND AT NIGHT WHEN I NEED TO GO TO THE BATHROOM. IT IS WORSE ESPECIALLY TRYING TO MOVE AROUND IN THE BED, OR GET UP TO GO TO THE BATHROOM, AND I AM 20 WEEKS AND A DAY. I HAVE BEEN TESTED FOR INFECTIONS ALL ARE NEGETIVE, BUT THE PAINS ARE MOST ANNOYING. I THINK IT IS THE STRETCHING OF THE UTERUS, BECAUSE SINCE I FOUND OUT I WAS PREGNANT, WHEN I STARTED GAINING ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AGO I WAS SHOWING, BUT PEOPLE SAY THAT IT IS MOSTLY IN MY HIPS.

kristen - August 30th, 2005 5:10 PM

yes, me too, yesterday night, i got pain, thought that it was food poisoning but not, I sweated a lot, lost all strength, thought that it was a miscarriage, but this morning it is ok. Anyone can tell me what happen?

Paula - September 8th, 2005 12:18 PM

I am almost 4weeks pregnant and I also experiencing the cramps in my stomach, they are sharp pains that pull upward. I have had them ever since i missed my first period but they are stronger in the morning and at night which is the worst. I too am afraid that i am experiencing an eptopic pregnancy. I am going to see my dr. this week and hopefully I will have some answers soon. Also has anyone experienced going to the washroom #2 more frequently since they have been pregnant in their first 4-5weeks??
