I am about 28 weeks prego with my second child. I broke my tailbone (coccyx) during child birth with my 1st. I also have a prolapsed uterus. I don't know if it can still be tilted, like it was before, so who knows exactly why there is so much discomfort. The doctor told me to take tylenol.

I am 18 weeks pregnant with my second child, and I've had the worst pain in my tailbone the whole time. I wish I had a cure to share with everyone, but my Doctor says the baby is pinching a nerve and there is nothing besides tylenol and rest to help. I've done the heating pad, pain relievers, cushion, and nothing has helped. Unfortunately, it will get worse the further along you get. I'm having a boy this time, my first was a girl. I never had this pain with her. The nurse told me in her experience, my women with tailbone pain have boys. Maybe boys just sit lower or something. Who knows.

Man, you people need to find a new doctor! I'm 35 weeks and have had this problem since the very beginning and my doc prescribed me Darvocet, a mild narcotic that is safe for prego women. It works wonders! And helps me slep at night also! Tylenol just doesn't take the edge off when you have this pain. I also see a chirpractor on a wekkly basis and he adjusts my hips. This seems to be effective also.

This pain that you all describe is called Posterior Pelvic Pain. It happens between 8-12weeks of pregnancy. Google it and you will find much more on it, I promise.

When I am in walking motion I feel in so much pain i have to stop or I will fall over. I am just going to see my doctor to see what she says I have broken my tail bone in the past so again I will get some awnser from her

I am 16 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I am also suffering from intermittent tailbone pain and after reading all the responses I am feeling better that I am not alone but now I am also wondering if this means I am having a BOY??

I had this but HORRIBLE pain. Couldn't walk, turn over in bed, sit, etc. I ended up having to go to the ER and it was a cyst on my tailbone not to mention I was 32 weeks along at that point. I ended up having to have it lanced off. What a recovery. It was awful. Keep an eye on it.

I am nearly 9 wks pregnant with my second child and have had a sore tailbone from about 5 wks. The pain is sometimes unbearable. I have to side on my side and when I stand up I flinch with pain. I didn't get this pain with my first child until I was about 30 wks.

I have had this pain also with the pregnancy of my daughter. I have also had the pain without being pregnant. When I was not pregnant I would lye on a hard floor and my tailbone would kind of crack and feel so much better for months. Now that I am pregnant with my Second and Third (yeah twins) I can’t seem to find out why I can’t crack it now. I have tried to do the butterfly sitting position on the floor with your feet together and push down on the knees. That is the only thing I can do to make the feeling less painful.

Woah... I've been dealing with this pain for over 10 years. Right after giving birth to my son. I now believe after some research that it can be due to a tilted or prolapsed uterus. Nothing worked- massage, acupuncture etc. cracking my back gave me some relief. I also have nerve pain down my leg to my foot. Some sites suggest that one can have infertility problems due to this condition. Good luck everyone.

This pain has been driving me nuts. I have had some sciatic nerve pain but this spasm/pain in my butt is absurd! First I thought I was having bowel or uterine trouble. Has anyone had any luck with this going away? I am about 24 weeks and can't imagine this continuing!

I AM TAKING CLOMID FOR MY FIRST CHILD AFTER TTC FOR 1 1/2 YRS.. I STARTED MY CLOMID ON MAY7 AND ENDED ON MAY 11TH..I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS TAILBONE PAIN FOR THE LAST 3-4 DAYS. I ALSO HAVE BEEN WALKING FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS. I WALK 5 DAYS A WEEK FOR AN HOUR [3MILES]. AND I DONT STRETCH BEFORE WALKING. I DONT KNOW IF I AM REALLY EARLY IN PREGNANCY. OR IF ITS BECAUSE OF MY WALKING. ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS?? THANKS

I hear you!!! I am experiencing the same pain in the tailbone right now. I felt it for teh first time maybe a week or so agao but I thought maybe it was my sleeping position or something. I will check it out with my dcotor when I see her in two weeks but I am relieved to hear that this is pretty normal. Ye anotehr thing they don't tell you about being preggers!

I'm pleased to see that I am not the only one! I am 10 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby and feel like my coccyx is badly bruised. I never got this with my first so didn't presume that it was to do with the pregnancy, although I knew that I had not had any trauma that would cause the discomfort. Ligament stretching sounds like a sensible explanation!
