10 Weeks And Bleeding

2 weeks ago I passed a blood clot while going to the washroom and light light bleeding over a weekend, got into see my doctor on the Monday and he seemed to think everything checked out fine, we also heard the heart beat (I was 8 weeks then). That Wednesday the bleeding picked up but my doctor's office was closed so I headed into the Emergency. They did blood tests and U/S and everything came back fine with the baby growing normally however there was a pocket of blood not close to the baby I was told not to worry about. Went in yesterday and heard the heart beat again at my doctors office...still bleeding. Ugh. I have a beautiful baby girl with a normal healthy pregnancy (she's 22mths), and one previous miscarriage about 6 months ago. Any thoughts or experiences similar?

Hi the same thing happened to me and they told me everything was ok. I am I will be 10w on Saturday. Last week I expedrienced some spotting which escalated to heavier bleeding. I went in for an ultrasound and they told me i have a sub chronic hematoma. A blood clot that happens when the palcenta forms and tears slighlty away from the uterus. They told me the chance of mc was very low. But that the bleeding could continue..and has. However it is now just a little brown spotting. They told me to keep my fluids up as lack of fluids can cause the uterus to contract. They also told me to rest as much as possible. I am still worried things could go wrong. I have my next ultrasound on the 27th when I will be about 11w5. I will be having my prentatal screening. I also have a 26 month old. It sounds to me you may have something similar..So try to take it easy and keep up your water intake. All the best.

Sept 6th is my due date, what's yours? I'm still bleeding, it hasn't been enough to use more then a liner but when I use the washroom I'm shocked at the blood. My reg mat doctor is away and I'm anxious to see him on the 2nd but till then I have another appt for a heart beat check next tuesday. I've been taking it 'easy' but it's hard with the my daughter being to active as you do. I'm not getting enough sleep and my husband keeps telling me to take it easy and not to stress...hard not to. Are you going to do the prenatal screening? Big smiles and positivity

Hi munki, My dd is Sept 12th. I am doing prenatal testing..that is on the 27th. I rented a doppler also, so I heard the heart beat this morning :) Only second time I have found it. It is so nerve wracking in the early stages trying to find the heartbeat as the baby is so small and moving ever so slightly you can still miss it...when I was bleeding heavy last week, I awakened at 4am and was frantically trying to find the hb with the doppler with no luck. But later that morning I had the ultrasound and baby was fine. Thank Gawd. Bleeding during a pregnancy is always frightening and cause forf concern. I always jump to conclusions as I have had 5 losses. I am hoping this one is a keeper!!! Did they tell you "Why" you are bleeding? Again best of luck. Our dd are only 6 days apart.

I should rent a doppler too! But I have no doubt I would be on it CONSTANTLY! And driving everyone nuts. When I was in the emerg they didn't tell me why I was bleeding, the U/S tech said he saw a large pocket of blood, however the doctor that reads them didn't mention it in the report to my mat dr just said that it looks to be a normal pregnancy...my reg mat doctor is away till the first week in March. Frustrating!!! My bleeding seems to have slowed (after a week) We haven't told our families as they were so disappointed with my last m/c, as were we. We also are trying to decide whether to have the prenatal screening because of the % of false positives - and we didn't with our daughter. What's been your experience? I have a feeling that yours is a keeper! You hang in there and be positive. I would love to stay in touch as we have similar experiences. Keep me posted.

Hi Again Munki, From the sounds of things it seems to me like it is a blood clot or (sub chronic hematoma that you may have) Either that or a placenta previa,.but they both are usually caused by a tear or a clot that forms when the placenta tears away from the side of the uterus. As far as prenatal testing goes..I am aware of false positives. But I still would not progress with a pregnancy without it. I am the kind of person who wants to know either way if I have a possiblility of a problem. With one of my losses I knew from my scan I had an elevated NT (4.0) and it also showed swelling around the abdomen of the fetus..The baby died inutero at 11w5d. I did not find out until I was going to have further testing (CVS)at 13w6d that it had died. With my 2 year old. I had the prenatal testing and it showed a great NT (1.3)and with the combined maternal serum and 18w blood work the chances for downs was like 1:23000. So I opted out of further testing. I am obviously nervous about finding out something could be wrong, but I would rather know what my chances are. I think the idea of false positives are what alot of women suggest because they have not so great ratio's. If the chances are high it can be a cause concern..for the rest of your pregnancy and the likelihood of anything truly being wrong is very unlikely. The prenatal testing itself does not indicate a problem just a likelihood of a problem compared to other women with the same stats and thus giving you the otpion to have further invasive testing. I still think you should go for it. But then again, I completely understand if you wouldn't do it. Good luck to you again
