11 Weeks 3 Days Pregnant And No Heartbeat

I had an appt. with my midwife at 11 weeks and 3 days and she could not pick up babies heartbeat. She said this is very normal. It didn't seem like she tried very hard. after 1 min she was done. I am going back in 2 weeks and I will be 13 weeks. I was 12 weeks with my son when I heard the heartbeat for the first time. Oh yea she didn't do a 9 week ultrasound as well, so I have been so nervous.

have you thought about getting a second opinion? your doctor doesnt sound to be too compa__sionate...i dont personally see what is normal about not being able to find a heartbeat at 11 weeks, and would probably have demanded that she do an u/s right then and there if it was me. sometimes, you just have to TELL the doctor what you want, and then it will get done, otherwise, i feel like doctors tend to take advantage of patients, and act like we know nothing. try getting a second opinion. thats what i suggest. i am very sorry that you are going through this now, and i wish you the best of luck!

My doctor could not find the heartbeat on the dopplar when I was 10 wks pregnant. He said it was pretty early and that my uterus was tilted so that makes it harder to hear. But to be on the safe side he also sent me down for a u/s so I at least got to see the h/b on the screen.

With my second child, the dr couldn't find the heartbeat at 10 wks with doppler. I was very stressed. Went back at 14 wks and it was loud and strong. She is now 3!

Hi, i'm only 8 weeks pg, but I was talking to my GP who said next month we would try and listen to the babies heartbeat, he said that it probably wouldn't work, but that we'd try. I also talked to a friend and she was only able to hear the heartbeat after about 15weeks. Don't worry, everyone says every pregnancy is different, so what happened with your son probably won't happen in this pg. Also, in the UK, we don't get ultrasounds until the 20th week as there is usually not enough to see, that's probably why, as 9 weeks the baby is too far inside and too small.

Thanks everyone. I feel a lot better. I just hope we will be able to hear the heart beat next week. I will keep you all posted! :)

I live in the UK, and my doctor did 6 and 9 week ultrasounds, i saw the heartbeat at 6 weeks and then at 9 saw the baby moving around and again the heartbeat - have a chat to your midwife and I'm sure they will do a scan for you.

Did your midwife used the fetal doppler? Sometimes its hard to pick up but.....Im no Dr. either. Just telling you from what Ive heard from my other PG friends. We 1st heard our baby's heartbeat on the fetal doppler when I was 12 wks and 5 days. Hope that helps.
