4D Ultrasound

What is the difference between the 4D ultrasound and the 3D? Has anyone ever heard of the 4D or had one??

The 4D is more advanced and you can see a lot more detail. I plan on having the 4D done around the 35th week. Insurance doesn't cover it so I have to pay for it out of pocket. My doctor charges $250.

That sounds pretty exciting. I never considered it because I though it would be too expensive. But I could come up with $250. Sounds like a good idea.

Jenett, What kinds of different things does it show??

You can see everything. From wrinkles in the eyes to eye lashes. Even the wrinkles on fingers, etc. It all depends on how the baby is positioned too. It's also a great tool for early detection of problems.

Wow, it looks like I definitely want to have one of those. Are you sure that NO insurance pays for it?

Jenett, how far along are you? Is this your first?

Jenett - March 28

I know most insurance companies do not pay for it since it's not a medically necessary procedure in most cases. I'm 8.3 weeks as of today. I wanted to get one done sooner, but the doctor said it's really not good since there isn't much to see early on. He mentioned that it's a great bonding experience since you actually get to see all of the features of the baby before he/she is born. That's one of the reasons I want one done so I can see what the little guy/gal will look like before they are born.

Jenette, When are you having the 4D done?

I'm going to wait until the 35th week.
