Hi everyone, i am 7 1/2 weeks pregnant right now. I had a bowel movement this am and noticed a drop of red blood in the toilet - when i wiped there was pink/red blood on the toiletpaper. I went to the ER. They decided not to do an u/s today but will call me in a few days for an u/s (I'm a little upset that they didn't do an ultrasound but then happy that they didn't think it was an emergancy). My HCG level was good at 60 000. My cervix was closed and the doctor could see no fresh blood. I am at home on bedrest and just waiting for the u/s tech to call me with an appointment. I think everything is okay but i'm still a bit worried. Please help me calm my fears or share your stories. Amber

Hello, pregnancy can be so scarry, can't it? We just so very much want everything to be okay! I had some spotting at 6 weeks. I had an US at my doc's office. Everything was fine! Did you bd the night before? That could explain it, as the cervix is more "friable" and bleeds easily now. Why don't you call you doc's office, and see if they can't make you feel better. Talk to a nurse--that's what they're for. My hCG was very close to yours when I just had it checked at 8 weeks gestation. best to you and your little one!

My husband and I bd'd on Saturday night so i don't think it was that. I am still waiting for them to let me know when my ultrasound is. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Some spotting is actually normal. I am 9.5 weeks and spot a couple of times a week. The Doc said that the uterus gets irritated and that causes some bleeding. As long as you don't have any cramping you should be okay. I still can't get use to the spotting, it is kind of scary everytime. I learned my lesson from my first miscarriage, you are in charge of your body. If you want an u/s or anything else checked, don't back down. You will always feel better when you are checked out. Don't be afraid to be a little pushy, after all it is your baby.

I had some light spotting about 2 weeks (at 7 weeks) ago, thankfully I also had a doc appointment that day and upon examination, my doc said everything felt fine. I had no cramping during the spotting, did not even know I was until I went to the bathroom. Had an ultrasound this week and our little bean is doing just fine. I've read that any type of strain may cause light spotting, most of the time its just old blood that may get dis-lodged. And sometimes we do strain during bowel movements. So long as there is no cramping while you are spotting, most likely you will be just fine. Good Luck!

Hi, so i haven't had anymore bleeding since the episode yesterday morning. But today i have noticed a little brown discharge and i started cramping. It is pretty bad cramps that come on strong and then ease and come strong again. I'm really worried, but i don't know what to do. I'm thankful i'm not bleeding anymore though and hopes it stays that way. Any advice or similar stories would be greatly appreciated. Amber

I had a similar situation when I was about 6 weeks or so. I had a bowel movement & a few drops of bright red blood as well. Instead of staying calm & being rational, I immediately burst into tears & thought the worst. I called the dr. & went in that afternoon. She said that my cervix was very tightly closed, but for some reason it was "irritated." She had no explaination for the irritation (DH & I had not bd), but said that it was absolutely nothing to worry about!! She was right...I am currently 29 weeks & doing wonderfully! I'm sure you will be fine as well!!!

This morning i woke up and was bleeding again. I called the hospital and they told me to come in for an ultrasound. The ultrasound went GREAT. The baby's heartbeat was 129bpm. The baby measured 6 weeks 2 days - by my first day of my LMP i would have been 8 weeks but because i have long cycles i kind of knew the baby might be not as far along. I have a small bleed next to the baby but the doctor said that one in four women have that and it usually clears up within a few days. I also have a cyst on my right overy that should hopefully go away as the pregnancy progresses. Seeing the heartbeat was absolutely amazing - i just cried and then they brought my husband in and he got to see the heartbeat as well - his eyes welled up a bit and it was pretty exciting.

Sorry if TMI, but I thought the info would be very helpful... I too had the same problem and rushed to the ER as well...They did an ultrasound (at the time I was 7wks 4daya) Cervix was closed no fresh blood....I did masturbate the night before and found out at my doctors office that just like intercourse, masturbation can cause bleeding...It was one or two wipes on the TP and it was gone... I was scared which is normal for us pregnant women! Everything is going to be fine... I am now 11wks and counting.... Can't wait.. Due 1/17/07!!!!!!
