Yesterday I had my second ultrasound (we had one at 7 weeks) I am 9 weeks pregnant and we couldn't see the baby. The doctor said the sak look OK with good measurments. I will have another one next week, the dr. told me that if we don't see the baby again then we should be worried. Has some one experience the same? I am very worried...

I just had my 2nd ultrasound at 7 weeks and they didn't see a baby either. I too an wondering if its too early or if this isn't a viable pregnancy. Let me know what happens with you.

Stacey, I have bad news for you. We couldn't see again the baby, it seems I had a blighted ovum and the baby could never developed. I will have another one next week to confirm the diagnosis and if it's the same then I will have a D&C. I am so sad and shocked. I will pray for you so it doesn't happen the same thing to you. Please let me know how your next ultrasounds goes.

I had a sac at 6wks but no baby. I had my HCG checked. Two times. They went down. If they go down it is bad. So I had a miscarriage.

I had a miscarriage in march. I did not have a baby in my sac after 8 weeks. Every two days I went to get my blood drawn. If your blood count do not double, then there is a problem. My blood count was going up but not doubling. Finally I had a D&C and the doc only found particles of baby. I wish you all of the luck in the world. It was a devastating moment for me. But now 3 months later I am 5 weeks pregnant.

Hey girls. In May I had an ultrasound at 71/2 weeks. They saw a sac and no baby. My hcg levels only went up a bit. They redid the ultrasound in a week and still no baby. They said that I had a blighted ovum. I was mortified. I had never heard of such a thing but apparently it is more common than we think. Anyway I had my D&C on May 20 and my first period on July 10. I am pregnant again. SUPRISE! I have been going every few days for my HCG level and everything so far is on track. I'm not as far along as they thought because they were not sure how long my cycles were. They are estimating about 6 weeks. Hopefully I can hang onto this one. I am so scared! I won't belive it is real until I see a heart beat. Good luck girls!

i dont know about where your from but where im from the doctors dont set up an ultrasound until 18 weeks, and i had mine 2 weeks ago and u could barly see anything and the doctor told me that was normal for 18 weeks. so i wouldnt woory about it at all! but good luck !

I had my first scan at 6 weeks and 2 days and you could see the sac and the baby which was very small, and if you didn't have good technology you probaly wouldnt see it, the scan maybe un clear too

i had my first sonogram at 7 weeks, and you could see the baby and hear the heartbeat. so i guess it varies with every woman, but kim i dont think thats normal for you to be 18 weeks and not see anything. cause just in two weeks you should see the s_x of the baby, by now your baby should be almost 5 1/2 inches long. but like i said i guess every baby is different. good luck!

It depends on the size of the sac. If it's measuring 9 weeks, then you likely have a blighted ovum...I've been through this.

I saw my sac at 5 weeks and although very shocked to learn we were having another baby I was happy at 8 weeks I started bleeding brownish blood, I called my Dr. and spent the weekend thinking the worst, I went in on Mon and all he did was an inter ultrasound, happy there was a heartbeat, 3 weeks later more bleeding and this time red, I called my dr and got right in, the heartbeat that I had was there 3 weeks ago? Gone. I had a D&C on sept 17th, this is my 2nd miscarriage both stopped developing at 9 weeks. I have 3 wonderful normal children now, has this ever happened before to anyone? what causes it?

Lori - September 24

Kim, I have to agree with Lynn. At 18 weeks you should be able to see the baby pretty clearly. I was able to see the s_x of my son at our 17wk ultrasound. I just had a scan for my 3rd child at 8 weeks, and it is so tiny!! 17mm!! Unbelievable!!

hey kim...this is another lori,i was just wondering where you are from?

i had bleeding at what i thought was 6 weeks pregnancy. the doctor says she couldn't see anything at all, i waited for another week and saw her, she said she only saw an empty sac, therefore i had blighted ovum. i was devastated. a week later i went to another doctor for second opinion, also getting ready for a D&C. to my amazement i was told that there was a viable sac in my womb. i am now 22 weeks pregnant. what's the moral of the story?? doctors are not god, they made mistakes too sometimes. dont jump to conclusion too soon, if it is suspected blighted ovum, no harm waiting for another 2 more weeks to recheck again. to think that i nearly killed my baby. good luck to all.

Definitely, liv! I am 8w5d, and had my second us today. Last time (2 weeks ago) she did an us, but could only see a sac, then today she could only see the sac, but it had grown. They drew more blood and she scheduled an us at the hospital instead of her office to see if they can get a better picture. My first pregnancy with my son went fine until 7 months, and he ended up being born 2 months premature. I am hoping this one is okay, just a bad ultrasound.
