Appearance Size Of Yolk Sac

Hi - I am newly pregnant and have a question about the yolk sac. I had an u/s today-I am 7 weeks-and there is a yolk sac, fetal pole(good size) and we could see the heartbeat-169bpm. My question is this. Does anyone know what the normal look and size of the yolk sac should be? What my u/s shows is a yolk sac about half the size of the fetus(is this too large?) Also, in all of the sonograms that I have seen, the yolk sac is clear in the middle and mine seems foggy. I have heard that a yolk sac that is too large may not be a good sign. I don't know anything about the sac not being clear. Maybe the picture is bad. Did anyone else have u/s pictures like this? Thanks. Kate

I also saw my little bean at 7 wks via vag. u/s and I couldn't tell what anything was! The pictures that you see in books and online are shown b/c they are clear and probably done with more advanced equipment and that's why they seem so perfect. I think you should be fine - its great that you got to see the hb so early - be happy for that and don't worry about the yolk sac. Plus, it is so early, that at 7 wks, the yolk sac probably is supposed to be the biggest thing in there. I've never heard anything about the size of the yolk sac and it causing problems. I know what its like to worry (I've had 2 m/c), so I understand where you are coming from, but don't read too much into it, your babe has a great hb and that is what counts! Good luck to you!
