At Home Fetal Heart Monitor

Does anyone know anything about these at-home fetal heart monitors? I saw an add for one for only $20. It said that it detects the heartbeat, hiccups, etc and you can hear it through a headset. Do these work?? And I'm wondering how it works...I would think that it would be safe. It looks kind of like a monitor that you lay on your belly. Thanks!!

I have heard that these ones like at Walmart and such are c___p. you can't hear anything until 3rd trimester and then it is not clear. They say don't waste your money, if you want to get one rent one from stork radio.

Thanks so much! That's kind of what I figured. I've never heard of stork radio, but I think I'll just wait. I just thought for $20 that would be pretty cool, but if it's not worth it, I'll just save my money! thanks!

I do not know anything personally about the monitors, but I know that I have read posts on here that drs have recommended to use them sparingly. I hope someone will write in to give them reasons for this as either I didn't see it or don't remember. I have also read people that are very happy with them. Hope someone writes in a drs opinion again.

I would've asked my doc, but i did not hear of these until after my last appointment. My next one is not for another month. Anyone's advise would be great!!
