Today has beena really unselttling day...I am 8.5 weeks and have had waht felt liek mild mentral cramps the last two days. But today, I have little shooting pains that feel like they are going from my belly button and down...not cramping, but sharp shooting pain...and my lower pack is just killing me...but no spotting or blood at all! Can this be a miscarriage?

Cathy- I have had two m/c and both of them started with spotting and then heavey cramping...worse than a period. I am currently 12 weeks prego right now and I too sometimes have that sharp pain...I believe that is the uterus stretching itself out for the baby =) if you do not have any spotting or bleeding I think you are okay. If you are really concerned, I would call your doctor and see if they can do a ultrasound for you. Good luck!

I had this sharp pain too. II asked my doctor and she asked me if it was when I sneeze of move quickly and I said yes. She told me it was the uterus main muscles stretching.

Thanks guys...still no bleeding today and the cramps and pain eased us the longer I laid on the couch last night...this is really stressful though. I have my next ulstrasound this week so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I know for me when I get the cramping is often is followed by a BM or gas, so I take Gax ex. I lay on my left side and it seems to get better.

Cathy2~ I agree! Could be either uterine stretching or Gas. The Sm. Intestins do sit low, right over the uteris, and is theres gas or constipation, it could cause pain. Ask your Dr. about gas cramping...

Also, those are actually symptoms during pregnancy for 2 months.
