Baths Or Showers

I am 6 weeks 6days and I read that it is not good to take baths due to bacteria possibly entering the va___a.I am really iffy about it. Don't get me wrong I am not a dirty person but when I hear things like that it make me really paranoid. I have been pregnant before and I don't remember taking baths (only showers). Has anyone heard anything about this and what is the truth? I have a doctor's appointment coming up but in the mean time I would like to know if it's okay. Any thought?

I've never heard of that! This is my second pregnancy and with my first I always took baths. I'm sure it is fine. I didn't read anything about that in any of my pregnancy books. But you should ask your doctor if it is a concern to you. The only danger with taking a bath is having the water too hot and rising your body temp for a long period of time. That is not a good thing. Let me know what the doctor says! Happy Pregnancy!

Thats what your mucus plug and cervix are for, to keep bacteria and such from harming your baby. Your labia also help to keep bacteria out of the v____a, so, again I wouldn't be too worried. Doctors are more concerned about whether or not your baths are too hot. I think you're fine! =)

It is fine to take baths while you are pregnant, they just can't be HOT baths....and stay out of hot tubs.....I am 31w and take baths to help relax me all the time. The only time you are not allowed to take a bath during pregnancy is AFTER your water breaks....the bag of waters if really what protects the baby (along with the cervix and mucus plug).....so after that breaks, there is an increased risk of introducing bacteria to the baby..but before that it is just fine.
