Can A U S Be Wrong

Had my first u/s today...very exciting! The u/s showed my baby's heart beating and I was so happy. Here is my question...all the web sites and my books and my pregnancy calender says "heart starts beating" in the middle of the 6th week...so why did the u/s tech give me a date for 11/10/07-11/13/07? That would not even put me at 6 weeks yet...I know the date I got pregnant...which puts me at 7 weeks today...so why is the u/s tech saying different?

pregnancy is measured in 40 weeks, starting at the first day of your last menstrual period. Conception usually happens 2 weeks into your cycle, so the gestation period is actually 38 weeks. Also, even though you may know the day that you had s_x to get pregnant, it can take 5-10 days for the fertilized egg to travel and implant into the uterus. Ultrasound dating is very accurate at your stage, so I would go with what the tech is telling you.

I went on Monday putting me at 6wks 3 days. The tech told me I was 7wks. They asked if I was for sure for sure about the date . I said yes because I was at the airport when I started my period flying to key west. I have the tickets still.

Ultrasounds can definitely be off by a few days. They don't always match up with your dates exactly. A few days behind or farther ahead is normal. Hope this helps.
