I read in a bunch of books that you are supposed to do Kegels everyday to help with delivery? Is that true? Has anyone practiced these?

lol.. I have not been doing Kegels... you dont HAVE to do them but they are supposed to make delivery easier because you are "working out" the muscles and such. its recommended but not entirely necessary. by the way, Im 38 weeks 2 days pregnant... I have done some kegel exercises maybe once the whole time I have been pregnant.. hopefully delivery isnt to bad lol.

It's a good idea to do kegels and work out your whole body too. Kegels can be done while doing nothing so it's the easiest workout!!! I recommend them. They give you a sense of "power down there" and IT WILL HELP when you have your baby. I'm on baby number 2 and I'm glad I did them for my first pregnancy. The hardest thing about delivery is not the pain, it's the endurance you'll have to keep up while pushing..Kegels are great because if these muscles strong you'll be a step ahead during the delivery process and able to keep pushing!!! It will also help you heal A LOT faster. Why would professionals tell you to do something that they didn't "feel it was entirely necessary" No matter what your going to have the baby and be fine. Do a kegel here and there, everyone had time for kegels.

mary b, I wasn't telling her not to do kegels, she was asking if its true that you HAVE to do kegels everyday and the answer is NO. you don't HAVE to do kegels at all... they are recommended and very helpful but you don't HAVE to do them.
