my first trimester i bled for a day in the first month of pregnancy, i did not go to a doctor and assumed it as a miscarriage. i drank frequently untill about a month ago, im 3 1/2 months now. Did i hurt the baby or have a higher risk of fetal alcohol syndrome?

My mother had a friend who-- unfortunately-- continued to drink during her pregnancy. Her baby actually turned out quite normal/healthy. I have read several reports that no specific amount of alcohol intake has been determined to cause FAS, but just a recommendation not to participate in binge drinking and if possible, none at all. In other countries (and even in US) women take some nips during their pregnancy... since alcohol does aid in thinning the blood. I personally abstain, but these are the facts that I've come across during my research. Have you gone back to the doctor and told them your situation?

Not to sound rude, but why would you not mention the bleeding to your doctor? If you were only bleeding for one day then that should have told you it may not be a miscarriage. I would call the doctor and make an appointment. There are tests they can run to see if there are problems. But they can only do them at certain points in pregnancy.

Hi lonna, I have a friend who didn't know she was pregnant until she was 6 months gone. She drank about 3 times a week and on a typical weekend she'd be out in pubs and clubs and even drinking flaming sambuca. She is having a healthy baby which is due on valentines day.
