The v____al ultrasound is not the traditional on your belly one. That is done much later. Now, the baby is so small they wouldn't be able to detect it like that. The v____al US uses a wand like tool that the doc places up your v____a (but just a little- I barely noticed it was there) and voila! Your see your little baby on the screen. Very easy, and very rea__suring to see your little one. Good luck!

At 10 weeks I had the ultrasound on my belly as well as the pelvic ultrasound. The plastic wand they insert is really quite painless. A little uncomfortable at first but if you relax your muscles you won't really feel too uncomfortable-it's much easier than a pap exam.

I too had the v____al US at 5 weeks then at 10 weeks (following up on cyst) both times were really painless. At 10 weeks we got to hear the heartbeat really loud too. The tech let me insert the wand to make myself comfortable so maybe you can request to do it yourself.

I had my first ultrasound today at 10w1d. They did the one on the belly and you could see the baby great. We saw him/her kicking and swinging their arms around. Although I have heard of alot of people having v____al ones done that early. I would call and see because with the one on the belly it is very important to have a full bladder for it. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
