Extreme Constipation

I am only 6 1/2 wks but already have extreme constipation. I am eating lots of veggies, fruits, etc. and nothing is working. I am gaining weight too fast and my clothes are very tight already because I am constipated. Anyone in same situation or have any suggestions?

Ask your doctor to prescribe you prenatal vitamins with stool softener in them. It's a life saver! It's a mild dose but it really helps keep you regular.

I'm exactly where you are and eating well. I bought some psyllium capsules today which are basically natural fiber. Hoping that helps. It's painful and frustrating! Walking for about 1/2 hour has helped a lot! Good luck!

I am so in your boat. I feel so fat. I keep putting food in me, but nothing comes out. I have taken a few stool softners and they help after a couple of days. It is so awful though.

I'm new to this site and love all the info. I am 6 weeks and in the same situation. What can we do about it? Are stool softeners safe? I asked my doctor about the gas and she said she woudln't take anything - ugh!

So glad you guys feel the same! I'm going to the Dr. to hopefully see a heartbeat tomorrow and will ask about this gas. I had a job interview today and it was so painful I was sweating. And I thought all that would keep me from enjoying this wonderful time was worry about miscarriage!

It is nice to know this is not unusual. Does anyone know if you can take any laxatives? I have only read its okay with the stool softeners and they are not helping at all.

Just came from my Drs. who suggested Colace. I'll report back on it!
