Annette, You fainted because of the hormone progesterone. This wonderful little hormone has and does quite a big job. For starters, it is the hormone that sustains a pregnancy, without, women would miscarry. Progesterone is quite guilty for causing alot of pregnancy side effects such as: dilating your blood vessels, so your blood pressure drops quickly as a result, making you feel lightheaded, dizzy, or actually fainting. It also contributes to nausea, constipation-slows down gut motility, acne break-outs, and others. OH also, an interesting tid bit of info,- Pregnant womens blood volume increases in the first trimester 30-60%, making us feel really thirty and crave salty foods(don't completely eliminate salt from your diet! Salt and water are "married", wherever one is, the other follows) As a result of our increasing blood circulating in our vessels, we get headaches. There is not alot of room in our craniums for any increase in pressure, so the slightest change really affects us. I did Labor & Delivery of a year, and loved it! -Hope that answers your question!

I have felt weak and have had almost constant headaches for about 3 weeks. Can this be a sign of pregnancy? Also very nauseated alot!!!
