Hello...I'm 12 weeks and I've got quite a belly! It's round and when i sit i no longer have rolls...i still though can't get it out of my head that it's fat...and not pregnancy since most say you don't show till later on. i'm about 5'7" and around160...not super thin but not that overweight either... i've only put on 2 lb since becoming pregnant. is it possible to be showing already?? i've always had a bit of a belly and put on weight there first...but it's never been so round and prominent...i had to go buy maternity clothes today becuase my shirts just don't fit nicely anymore. i'm i just freaking out??????? sorry...i know i'm pregnant but i just am paranoid about the fat!!!!!! i am hoping i hear that it is indeed baby or at least from baby!

please don't take this post wrong....I hope it is preganncy....i'm just concerned becuase i didn't think that it is normal to show this early

zinger43, i was exactly the same.. 5'6'' and 159 when i got pregnant... all of my weight goes to my belly and mine was nice and round early on... the first few weeks you're gonna feel really bloated, which makes you belly stick out more.. so it's not fat (well, maybe a wee bit) :) but mostly it's being bloated and ur ab muscles relaxing, which pushes ur belly out... i'm 34.5 weeks now and i have a nice round belly and i've gained about 35 lbs. You won't really start showing till you hit 18-20 weeks.. sounds like we have similar body types..

vanja...so...did it go down then before you started to actually show? i'm just playing it off like it's "showing" to my students and coworkers! but what if it shrinks then?? sorry...so confused...but nice to know someone else has the same body type as me!!

actually, you probably are showing. You notice it, but no one else will notice it (or they wont say anything...just in case) until around 20 weeks. But I definately think you yourself can notice a difference at 12 weeks! so dont worry!

Zinger, Is this your first pregnancy? If so it may be mostly bloating, and some of the baby. By 12 weeks the baby is usually starting to come out of the pelvis and so you may be showing a very little. This is the one time in your life that you cannot worry about being fat, you need to do what is best for your baby, and if you are eating healthy and maintaining the exercise that you were, you should have no problem. You should probably gain between 25 - 35 pounds while you are pregnant, unless your doctor recommends otherwise. I am overweight as well and I gained 30 lbs with my first and 13 with my second. I lost everything with both with in the first 3 months after delivery... I too have busted out the maternity clothes, I am now 12 weeks and 3 days, but this is actually my 4th pregnancy. I hope that I have helped you.

kellly...technically this is my second pregnancy..i lost the first one last march around 12 weeks. so i know they say you show sooner with your second but i didn't think that applied to me since i've never carried to full term. i know that i have to gain weight and can't worry about the fat...i'm just more paranoid that it's nonessential belly fat and not pregnancy...

moe...well...as for just me noticing...it unfortunatley isn't so!!!!! i teach behaviorally/emotionally disturbed tykes and they are SOOO blatantly honest. Several of them have pointed out that my belly is growing!!!!!! but thankfully my other body parts don't seem to have which is why i'm hoping it's showing!!!

zinger, as I mentioned I lost all of the weight from all of my pregnancies, but I still have the "mommy spare tire" it is not bad, but it is there, and I guess that it is my tribute to the kids... You very well may be showing I guess that I don't know how it works with m/c's, and as moescrilla said, you notice it more but everyone else may not.

oops I missed you last post zinger, it must have come in while I was typing, maybe you are showing, and maybe you will be one of the women who carry all of their weight in baby basketball. It is hard to say and every pregnancy is different, I actually carried both my girls differently... Good luck.

my sister in law started showing at 2 months. Before she told us she was pregnant, we kind of thought she was, but I wasnt gonna ask, because if she wasnt, I didnt want her to think I thought she was fat!!!! People that dont know you or dont know that you're pregnant probably wont say anything until you're definately showing, just in case...you know? lol

thanks kelly...i appreciate your input!!!

very true moe...i'm gathering people at work are talking becuase within the past two days i've had two different people do the "so I hear you're gonna be a momma" thing which perhaps they had secretly inquired about due to my shape! who knows! anwyays...was your sister actually showing or was she bloated? is she average, under, or overweight??? sorry...i know i'm being nosy rosy!

ChattyKathy - January 24

I'm 9 weeks now and experiencing just what you are. For me its neither. Its just bloat. It is possible to be showing but if your belly is round it probably is bloat and PERFECTLY normal. We usually look more pregnant now than we will a little down the road. It WILL go away before its all baby pooch. Don't worry about the weight gain just yet.
