I am 30 and just found out I am 6 weeks pregnant. I have all of the standard questions I am sure first time pregnant women do. So far my only symptom is extreme fatigue. I just wanted to see if there was anyone else out there in a similar situation, so we can share stories.

i'm 30 and pregnant with my first too! I am 8+ weeks pregnant. I'm mostly super tired. I was only puking one day. Since then, about two weeks ago, i just have major food aversions. It's hard to eat anything. I go back on the 5th to see and hear the baby again.

Hi pattford, You go back on the 5th? So you have been there before? When did you first go and could you hear the baby's heart? My doctor's office told me to wait until 8-12 weeks to go in, but I am so anxious to know if everything is okay that I want to go now. I haven't had any food aversions yet, but I think my smell is becoming more sensitive. I have had some very light vramping, but I think it is from bowel movements. Have you had anything like that yet.

I saw the baby at 7 weeks, we also saw and heard the heartbeat at 7 weeks. I should be 10 weeks on the 5th when we go back. I had a m/c about 15 months ago, so I'm still nervous. Hearing the heartbeat and everything was a relief. The reason I got to go so early was because we did an IUI. The specialist, I guess, watches things more closely. After the next visit, I have to go to my regular gyno.

I read that if you have had a miscarriage, you chances increas 85% that your next pregnancy will be a healthy one, so I wish you the best! I am a little nervous about having a miscarriage so I am trying to be as healthy as I can. My biggest problem now is what food to eat. I heard pregnant women shouldn't eat hotdogs and lunch meat. I usually fix a sandwich for my husband and me each morning for lunch, so I am not sure what to do now. Do you have any nutrition knowledge for me?

Hi Cari, I am 25wks. pg and I got pg about 2 months before my 31st b-day, I know I am farther along, but I am in a similar situation. I had my frist appointment @ 10wks(I thought I was 8, but's that's due to not counting from my LMP), we heard our baby, although my doc. wasn't sure if we would. This is my first pregnancy, my hubby and I never tried until now. I had a lot of fatigue, headaches, and some food aversions, but was never really sick. You should avoid some foods, although I didn't know about the lunchmeat thing until almost my 2nd trimester, your supposed to heat it until steaming to kill listeria. Listeria is very rare, but it can harm the fetus, it is also in some soft cheeses, like feta, blue cheese and brie. Ask your doc. about this. I didn't like to cook and normally I am a cooking freak, my hubby and I ate frozen pizza a lot, then about 13wks or so I came out of the funk I was in and started being my "normal" self. The fatigue is severe at first I think I slept 10-12 hrs a night, I just couldn't help it. The one food that grossed me out was raw chicken, I wanted to eat it, but not look at it until it was cooked. Hope you're doing well, and good luck on your pregnancy.

Thanks for your comments Erynn21. On top of the fatigue were you moody? My poor husband can't do anything right lately and that is not normal. If he's home, I am mad, if he's gone I am mad, he can't win. I apologize, but it only lasts for a few minutes:) Do you know or are you going to find out what you are having? I would like to, but my husband says let's wait.

Hi all, I got pregnant in March, the same month I turned 31, so I'm 10 weeks pregnant right now with our first baby. I've been married for about 2-1/2 years, and we'ver very excited about this baby. I am also super tired all the time. I get about 9-10 hrs of sleep every night, and I still wake up tired. I am having major aversions to all meats and poultry. I can't eat it, can't look at it, and get sick when I smell it cooking. But I do crave seafood and fruits a lot. Sounds kinda healthy doesn't it, not when you have the Filet-o-Fish burgers from McDonalds 3-4 times a week. They are the best tasting thing on the planet to me right now. I just can't get enough of them. I wish I had one in front of me right now, mmmm.....As for the other symptoms I have, my bb's are still really sore, constipated :-(, light cramping, and all day nausea, but no puking. I guess I should be grateful for that, but sometimes I feel like it would actually relieve the nausea a little. I also have been pretty moody lately, just not really wanting to hang out with my dh. Every little thing he does seems to annoy me right now. I had my first prenatal appt at 8 weeks, but it was just standard - family history, blood drawn, pelvic exam - I was really disappointed we didn't get to listen to the heartbeat, but I'm going back on June 8th, I'll be at 12 weeks by then, and that's when my dr. says she usually listens for the heartbeat. We're going to wait to find out what we're having. It'll be great when the doctor says "It's a boy" or "It's a girl", and we're surprised.

Cari - May 25

Hi ro, I am glad you mentioned the light cramping. I am actually having a little right now, but I also feel gas bubbles, so I think that is all it is. I am not spotting or bleeding. Is your light cramping similar? With your mention of McDonalds, I am suddenly craving a Fish sandwich. My husband is grilling tenderloin tonight, but that does not sound good to me. It doesn't make me feel ill, I just would rather have a Filet'O'Fish!!

ro - May 25

That's too funny, but they are just soooo good! I don't remember that last time I had one before I got pregnant, and now I can't stop eating them. And we have a McDonald's 1 block down from my work. Very dangerous :-). As for the light cramping, it's very mild, kind of like very faint menstral cramps. And they come and go all the time. I think things are just stretching and adjusting to the baby in there I haven't had any spotting or bleeding either though.

Erynn21 - May 25

I had the same kind of light cramping, it was a weird "pulling" sensation, it's uterine and there's also ligament stretching. I can't say I was really moody, I had a woman who was about where I am now tell me to take omega-3 fatty acids, they really help with mood swings, I swear by them. Ask your doc. about taking them and take only purity -certified brands. I only get really emotional if I forget to take them. The baby steals them from you for brain development leaving your brain "hungry" for them, her advice helped me alot. I have been pretty happy, although I get really annoyed by things that probably wouldn't normally annoy me.

Cari - May 26

I did indulge in a McDonalds fish sandwich last night. It really hit the spot:) As far as the light cramping, mine also feels a little like menstrual cramps, so thank you, I am glad to hear it's "normal". As far as the omega-3, do most pre-natal vitamins contain that?

Erynn21 - May 26

I actually take a supplement of them w/ my prenatal, they're like a vitamin-e gel cap thing. You also asked earlier what we are having and we're having a girl. I had a feeling the whole time she was a girl, so did my hubby, my MIL said for sure boy, but she was wrong. We are planning to name her Nora. I can see both sides of the fence, but my hubby and I both wanted to know, I do feel more connected to her because I can call her by name, but that's my own weird thing. I could have waited, but it was awesome finding out, you have to do what feels right for you and your spouse. You will go through periods of crampiness and such, I had one yesterday, I just kept getting this pulling sensation, I think my baby is growing a lot this week and my body is trying to accomidate all of her growth. I mostly feel good, but I have had some discomforts, and that's to be expected.

Hi...I am also 30, had fertility problems...busband ultimately said we will have atleast one natural cycle...and bingo I was pregnant...the only thing is that if calculated from last period, I am 8 weeks, but I normally have 35-40 days cycle with late ovulation...My doc gave me a u/s and said it was more than 4 weeks of age...the u/s was so early because, I had been earlier on fertlity meds..and doc wanted to rule out ectopic....but only sac could be seen. I have been called again after two weeks, and I am really scared if that appointment does not go well

Cari - May 30

Hi PJ, I am sure your appointment will go fine. One thing I have found is there is no sense in worrying. All the worrying in the world won't change the outcome (I know easier said then done). My question for you ladies is, What is the status of the relationship with your significant other/baby's father? The past couple of days I can't stand my husband. Everything he does or says annoys me. My office phone has caller id and when I see it's him calling I cringe and am tempted to not answer. I haven't even wanted him to sleep in the same bed as me. I feel bad because I love him, I just don't particular want to be near him right now. We were trying to get pregnant, so I am not mad at him as though maybe if it were an "accident." Is anyone else experiencing similar feelings.
