HEY GUYS. I'M ABOUT 4 WEEKS PG AND AM SUPPOSED TO FLY ACROSS TEXAS IN TWO WEEKS. 1 HOUR FLIGHT TO DALLAS, LAYOVER, THEN A 1 HOUR FLIGHT TO SAN ANTONIO. IS THIS SAFE? ANY IDEAS?

I've only heard that it's not a good idea to fly in your 3rd trimester. Most women wouldn't even know they're pg at 4 weeks so I'm sure it won't effect your pregnancy at all.

thanks Heidi. I'm nervous b/c I had a miscarriage in May--I'm being extremely overprotective!!

Call your clinic and ask if you're really worried. But I know plenty of women who've flown that early in a pregnancy. Most don't know they're pg yet. My book says it's a no no in the 3rd trimester. Something about the pressure in the cabin. I'd be scared to fly in the 3rd trimester. I'd end up like Claire on LOST and crash on an island 9 months pregnant!!!!!! I hope she has that baby soon! Ha ha! Good luck with your pregnancy!!!!

Hey Heidi. What book do you have? I'm reading What to Expect when You're Expecting.

Don't worry I was an air hostess and was flying short and long haul when I was 6 weeks pregnant, didn't know at the time but my little girl is perfect.21 months later,I am 3 weeks pregnant and have a 10 hour flight to the uk for a wedding I am not over concerned as I know all will be fine.Sure get the doc to check you out but getting worried about something that may not happen is not good for you both either. The flights are short and you have a break in between,i'm sure you will be fine....

I flew to SC last week (for our 1 yr) and it was fine (I called the doctor to make sure). The only thing she suggested was to get a pat down instead of going through the metal/x-ray machines. Made me more confortable knowing that I wasn't exposing my body to extra technology. I am sure it is safe to an extent but I wasn't going to take a chance.

Hi AG! I am 6 weeks pregnant and I will be flying home when I am 10 weeks from Tokyo to Seattle, my dr said I have nothing to worry about and it is completly safe to fly in the 1st trimester. Hope this helps

Thanks, Michelle! I just found out that I am pregnant and am due to fly from Vancouver to London (10hrs) at 8 weeks. I did fly at 5 weeks during my first pregnancy and everything was fine, but I still felt a little unsure as it is such a long trip.
