Fun Creative Ideas For Telling Family Friends

I think it would be fun to share how everyone told (or will tell) family and friends that they're pregnant. I still have awhile before the announcement, but looking for ideas!

I'm not at that stage yet but am planning on waiting until my mothers birthday and getting her a card that says "Happy Birthday Grandma". A bit cheesy but it's what I've come up with so far. We're also looking forward to telling my husband's kids. Thinking of buying the youngest a shirt that says "Big Sister". the wait is killing me!!

that's great! Funny, i've told my cat that she's going to be a big sister soon. I agree that the wait is hard! I just keep telling myself that if something goes wrong, I won't want the whole world to know. I'm planning on telling my family when I visit them for the 4th of July (due date is 1/7/07).

For my last pregnancy I bought a baby ring and a keepsake box and wrapped it up in a pretty gift bag. I then wrote out something in a card about how “together we can make dreams come true and we’ll be able to hold our dream in about 8 months” and that’s how I told my hubby. For my son (who is 16) I bought him a cool pair of shoes that he really wanted. Then, I had him open a second box with the exact same shoes but in infant size and told him, “You can put those on your baby brother or sisters feet”…he about fell over! For my parents I bought baby bibs that said “I love Grandma” and I love Grandpa” and put them in gift bags. When they opened them I unzipped my sweater to reveal a t-shirt underneath that said, “Yes, I’m pregnant!” It was fun. This time everyone figured it out because I started showing at 6 weeks, so there was no hiding it!

Great ideas Crystal (I might steal the bib thing lol). My due date is Jan 5 - my mom's birthday is July 4th so I'll also be giving the news that day hthab! Can't wait - it's hard because every time I see her she asks "are you pregnant yet?" :)

Steal away! That's why I posted these; so that maybe they will inspire some of you to do the same! I really had fun telling everyone last time and feel kind of jipped this time! I am only 8 wks, 4 days and already look like I'm about 4-5 months! There is no denying the fact that I'm pregnant. Telling your mom on her birthday will be the best present she can get! You could put the bib in a birthday gift bag so she wouldn't suspect a thing before she opened it!!!

My Mother-in-law gave me a hankie for our wedding. I turned it into a bonnet. (pretty easy, there is instructions on the internet) and gave it to her for Moms day. Halmark has this great picture frame that says "great moms/dads get promoted to grandmas.." I put an u/s sound picture in one for my mom

Great ideas! Chris, I think that my due date will be Jan 7, but my first dr. appt isn't until 5/30. I've been waiting to see some other postings with January due dates!

My first appointment is May 18 - can't wait. I've been reading that the first appointment can be quite stressfull - any thoughts on that anyone?

I'm kind of nervous about it too, mainly because of the long wait. I'm just trying to be positive, and keep reminding myself that chances are higher that everything will be okay then that there's something wrong. I don't really know what to do with myself until then. I can't concentrate at work. I want to start looking around for baby stuff, but I think I should wait and not get my hopes up too much. It's a happy but frustrating time!

Ya, I find myself wandering online (like now!) when I should be working. I've been researching names today - way ahead of myself I know. I had the urge to go out and buy some pregnancy books today but reeled myself in. I'll wait until after that first appt. before I start with the shopping. Good to be able to discuss this tho - it's hard not being able to talk to friends or family yet.

OMG... we are totally on the same page! I've been looking at baby names today too... and during my lunch break, I stopped at the book store to check out the pregnancy books. Most of them didn't seem to provide much more info than what I can find online, so I decided to pa__s. I'm glad to know I'm not alone!

My Boyfriend has a (almost) 3-year-old from a previos relationship. We are going to tell our parents but putting a T-shirt on him that says "I'm going to be a big brother!" Thier faces will be priceless!

I bought my husband his favorite beer, fixed him his favorite dinner and dessert and then told him. He had wondered why I had been so attentive, while getting another beer out of the fridge. ;)

We are planning to tell our parents on Mother's Day. We went to the first appointment yesterday and had the first ultrasound. I'm thinking of putting the ultrasound in a little frame and wrap it up w/ the other Mother's Day gifts. For those worrying about the first appointment ours went great. The doctor was very rea__suring about once you hear/see the heartbeat going strong then the chances of anything bad happening drop dramatically. I am only 7 weeks and we were not planning to tell until around 10 weeks but now we're moving that up to 8 weeks. How far along is everyone before they are sharing the news?
