Heart Rate Determining Sex Of Baby

I've heard that the heart rate can tell you what s_x the baby is...does anyone know anything about that? At 9 weeks, the heart rate was at 177...any ideas?

If it is above 150, it is a girl. If it is below 150, it is a boy. Of coarse if the heart beat is 145-155, that is kind of cutting it close, but with your baby's heart beat being 177, I would have to say you have a very high chance of it being a girl! Here is a website you can go to for some more fun on finding it out! http://www.babygenderprediction.com/ Try all of the things that it has for you to do! I am having lots of fun with them- they are telling me that I am going to have a girl so we will see!

sorry JS, but it's one of those urban legends :o) the following quote is from the ivillage.com parenting website... "Fetal heart rate: Can it predict gender? - This belief is based on the fact that women usually have higher metabolic rates than men and, therefore, have a slightly higher pulse rate. Actually, there is no correlation between fetal heart rate and gender -- and it has been studied. This is an "old wive's tale" that will not die. Having said that, it is fun to try to guess gender based on heart rate, and because we have no other ways of doing this (short of amniocentisis and ultrasound), it is harmless enough. You will find, too, that as gestation advances and your baby's neurological system matures, the heart rate will slow a bit. So, it looks like we all start out female, which genetically happens to be true. Happy guessing".

MY BABYS HEART RATE AT MY LAST DOCTORS APPT WAS BETWEEN 140-143. ANY DETERMINATION OF WHAT IT COULD BE?

I am 7 weeks along and have not had an ultrasound with this one, but my two girls both had heart rates between 138-145. My sister is due in Sept with her first. She is having a boy (two ultrasounds) and his heart rate is 160.

I had two girls and both had heart rates of 140 for an average....pretty close to that all the time.

THIS IS JUST A WISE TELL. IM HAVING A GIRL AND HER HEARTBEAT IS 138 EVERYTIME I GO TO THE DR. AND THE CHINESE CALENDAR IS NOT ALWAYS CORRECT IT ALSO STATES IM HAVING A BOY.

If I am 3 months and 3 days and the heart beat is 150. Would that be a boy or a girl.

With my boys the doc. would have bet they were girls. there heartrates were over 140. They say its hard to say what it is by the heartrate. Diff body make ups will make it high or low. You'll just have to wait. Sorry, but its like miss reading signs of being prego, sometimes its your AF sometimes it means your prego.an ultrasound at about 22 weeks can tell you almost 4 sure what s_x it is. Good Luck

The baby's heartbeat changes (slows down) throughout pregnancy. Mine was 180 at 9 weeks, 157 at 13 weeks, and now 141 at 18 weeks. OB says it'll probably stay around where it's at now for the rest of the pregnancy, and there's enough "exceptions" that you can't really rely on any "rules" to the gender-guessing game. Fun to play though!

My OB/GYN said that the heart rate of my baby in the early weeks of pregnancy is like a hummingbird...and it will be really fast at the early weeks as the baby is starting to develop. My FHR was high on my first appt. but has since went to an average rate. I would think any Dr. with a lot of experience would tell their patients that the heart rate at a first appt. will be high....but who knows, maybe I just got lucky with my Dr.

Sorry JS but this is a wives tale. My babies heartrate was always in the 160 to 180 range, and I'm having a boy.

jll - August 3

at 11 weeks my baby's heart rate was 190 is this too fast. what could this mean physically for the baby

kathy - August 15

heart rates above 160- more likely a girl!

MJM - August 15

at 10ish weeks my babys rate was around 176 at my 18 week appt it was 156. Its a BOY. My daughter was always around 156ish. So heart rate is not a way to determine gender of the baby, But it is fun to try all of the little tests and things they have out these days
