Heartbeat And Miscarriage

I went for my first ultrasound this week. Found baby and a good, strong heartbeat with no problem. I have heard that this is a good sign that a miscarriage most likely will not happen? Anyone have any info. on this? Thanks

Hi there. You are right. My doctor told me that once you see a good strong heartbeat that your chance of miscarriage is less than 5%. :) Congratulations and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

I am so glad that you asked that question, and Lesley thanks for your statistic. I had an US at 6w1d and had a strong heartbeat and have still been crazy nervous for the last 3 weeks. My next appointment isn't until April 21st.

I had my first u/s at 8.5 weeks and my Doctor found the baby and we heard the heartbeat right away. He lowered my risk to <5%. I am 10.5 weeks now and I still have the same symptoms so I am starting to feel a little more comfortable. I am glad to see that other women have been given similar information. My Doctor is very conservative and I don't think that he would lower the % that much if he didn't believe it. I have an appt. on 04/12 and an u/s on 04/22. Can't wait!
